Has anyone else read this? This is unbelievable! At first I figured it was garbage but twitter has blown up over this and now ND released a statement that basically manti was tricked into dating a girl who didn't exist and was led to believe she tragically died from luekemia. How in the hell does this happen?! Lol.

So ND is making it out that manti is a victim of a cruel joke. Sounds more like a idiot to me. I don't see how anyone's so called gf death be faked and you be naive enough to just take word on it and go on about ur life. Definitely something fishy goin on IMO.

It's insane to me that such a huge story was made to start with in the fact he never even met the girl in person! He truly had no idea of the girl he "loved" and thought he knew. It's so hard for me to find all of this true. He was one of the biggest house hold names in cfb this year, getting a actual girlfriend shouldn't have been a issue for this guy. Not saying just because you date online it lessons it any if a person dies of a awful disease and no disrespect intended. But the media made it out like this was the love of his life and a girl he was extremely close to!

It sickens me that after hearing this garbage all year and the trials and tribulations he played through. There is many other kids out there who have lost relatives and loved ones along the way. Grew up in the hoods and seen parents, siblings and best friends shot and killed, put in prison and seen more than any kid should have too and yet go on to be successful athletes. But u don't hear all those stories. But the one story we get crammed down our throats ended up being a pile of crap!

Before its all done the media will turn back their love for ND and Teo and use this for the reason ND got curb stomped against Alabama and they weren't playing in the right state of mind

i'm a buckeye fan. but i'm just sickened over this , you talk about your draft stock plummeting. what makes me even sicker was his choice in the heisman race, giving a game ball to him to take to hawaii. wow what an elaborate, sick hoax, that was meant strictly for self promotion. him and lance armstrong are the same to me now. i have lost a lot of respect for the golden domers now as well, i'll leave it at that.

ND should be put on probation for providing benefits to a player (hiring independant investigators to look into this) that they wouldn't do for a normal, non-athletic student.

Jack Swarbuck's staged presser was a dog and pony show and he put on an act as good as Manti's.

1st of all all morning the draft experts has said this in no way affects draft status.
2nd of all dont be quick to judge. Let the story unfold see what happens. In this day and age this could happen. Teo could be innocent of knowing anything about this. I read the deadspin article and Im on the fence about him knowing or not knowing. Ill reserve judgement.

I'm not saying the guy was involved or put this whole thing on. To me that seems even more far fetched than the being had as part of a hoax. However, any thing is true now a days.

What I am saying is how could he be so stupid fall part of this? I understand he is still young but you would think a person such as himself would have better guidance in a situation like this from family, coaches, advisors and so on. Reading the story and all included, there were tons of obvious red flags through it all. First of all he never ever met the girl in person. It was strictly a online relationship. I understand people meet online all the time but usually at some point, especially as deep as he claims there relationship was, you would make a effort to meet that person you loved. If I did have reason to believe my girlfriend died I am 100% positive in myself that I would make forth the effort to confirm this to be absolutely true. No way do I say, welp she's dead, back to football, end of story.

Also in the replayed interview they asked him repeatedly to speak to the family and have pictures and Teo refused saying the family asked it to be kept quiet and personal. Yet, espn and every news outlet was blowing this up all darn football season! He was doing interviews on espn and college gameday about it. It's all any of us heard.

The kid might be part of a cruel sick joke and may have had no part of it. I feel bad for him either way cause hes gonna be precieved different by all of the country. he went from hero to jackass in a few short hours. But if that's the case I think he displayed a large lack of character, lack of intelligence, lack of judgement, and was very very naive to have fallen for this.

Anyway looking back its easy to see holes in the story, but hindsight is always 20/20. Like Mike Golic was talking about this morning he said the guys talked, but never really asked questions to Teo because they respected his privacy. They talk about him doing it to help his Heisman chances well he wasnt in the Heisman talk till like a month after her "death" occurred. Of course the gay thing was brought up, but you know what if he was why create a fake GF? Just dont say anything or do anything that would make people think that. I had a teammate in college real cool guy. Then like 6 years later I found out he was gay. At first I thought serious, but then thinking back its like of I can see that. Didnt change my opinion of him still a pretty cool guy. There are a thousand questions that need asked and maybe we'll hear the answer. Hopefully Teo was duped and didnt know any of this. If he was a part of it he needs to just stand up say this was a prank that went way way to far. If you were going to end it why kill her off? Just tell people you broke up. I dont know Im 50/50 on whether he knew or not. I will say one thing if he knew he deserves an Oscar for acting.
