Larry Carter: 0-40
Gregg Deel: 16-46
Jared McClellan: 5-25
Jerrod Sparling: 25-45
Jack James: 10-21
Merrill Tripplett: 10-20
Larry Carter: 0-40
Gregg Deel: 16-46
Jared McClellan: 5-25
Jerrod Sparling: 25-45
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
Those are some really good coaches who have succeeded elsewhere, especially Deel, James, and Triplett. The schedule is much easier now that they have been in the TVC. I really thought Sparling was building a program, then they hit a rough patch.Jason Vorhees wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 11:02 pm Head Coaching Records at River Valley:

What does everyone think the issues are?
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
Can't imagine any marquee names wanting that job. I'd say they'll have to settle for what they can get. No one has ever been able to win much at that place. Prolly lose some of their best players to Gallia too so that makes it even worse.

I figure Brent Smith would jump on this jump. Is he still at River Valley? He use to coach and said he played for Urban Myer at Bowling Green.

River Valley job is now posted on OHSAA coaches page under jobs. This is a tough job for sure.

For a coach that has no experience. No job. Looking for work and experience. Gonna be beating the door down.

Seems like a recipe for success for a program that has never had any.countywide35 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 11:37 am For a coach that has no experience. No job. Looking for work and experience. Gonna be beating the door down.

With South Gallia leaving the league I think you’re gonna see RV to the Hocking and possibly school or two added to the Ohio

Serious question. What has to change internally and with parents in order to get this program on a winning track. Coaching is a small piece of what makes a winning program. You have to have administrative support as well as the support of the parents and community.

The entire Culture has to change. River Valley is seeing success in other sports the last few years. Wrestling is doing very well. For years all the good athletes were leaving and going to GA, when GA was down in football for a few years most of the kids who would have changed schools stayed and the Raiders showed some success for a couple of years.2trap_4ever wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 9:42 am Serious question. They need to find a coach who is willing to base his offense and defense off of the players strengths. That has killed the Raiders the last few years. It's going to take a darn good coach to go in and build a program that is set up to be successful year in and year out.
Championship's are won in the off-season

I think it will also require the school and it’s community to redefine how they see success. You won’t see winning records every year at a rural school like RV. They may have accept the ebb and flow of winning years.Orange and Brown wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 12:14 pmThe entire Culture has to change. Yeah, that's true but honestly expectations are hard to manage even in schools that are used to winning.Rutterkickballer wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 3:36 pmI think it will also require the school and it’s community to redefine how they see success.
