With the 71-54 loss to Fairland, Portsmouth is now in 8th and last place (0-3) all by themselves in the OVC after Coal Grove's win over Rock Hill. It also was Fairland's 14th straight win over the Trojans, matching a 14 game winning streak by Chillicothe in the early 2000's. Ironically, PHS ended that 14 game streak by the Cavaliers with a 52-42 win at Portsmouth in the 2010-2011 season. That season Portsmouth advanced to the D3 Final 4.
Portsmouth hasn't finished last in any conference play since a 10th place finish in the SEOAL in the 2007 season. That year Athens beat Portsmouth in the SEOAL Day of Champions, in which the 9th place Bulldogs played the 10th place Trojans, with PHS losing that game at Logan HS. That season also saw PHS set the school record for most losses in a season with 18 (4-18). One of the few SEOAL wins was over Warren in OT.
