Yea it is at Meigs and especially after everyone predicted a very close game and some even thought Meigs would win. But no surprise as Howie is a master at out coaching the opposition coach, especially when they think they can beat him.Tvcfanatic wrote: Mon Jan 03, 2022 10:36 amBeat the brakes off meigs? 15 points is not beating the brakes off anybodyGray Cat wrote: Mon Jan 03, 2022 9:28 amOne sided calls? No, Trimble beat the brakes off of Meigs, just like they have everyone else this year, and there weren't any calls that were going to make up for that. It's a shame that some fans complain about the refs after a loss even when they play at home. Yet I've never seen any of them credit the refs when they win LOL.Tvcfanatic wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 9:48 pm Meigs suffers loss to trimble 66-51, very one sided calls. Yes, Howie got all the calls. That crew was scared to death of him, and he was stomping, staring at them, screaming and whistling as well as I've ever seen. Meanwhile Hill was up to his usually distracted antics during the game. So Howie defiantly "out coached" Hill in the ref intimidation department. It was a close game for a while and without those calls Howie made them make it would have been close throughout.Tvcfanatic wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 9:48 pm Meigs suffers loss to trimble 66-51, very one sided calls. Did you mention that Trimble had more team fouls until Meigs starting fouling to try and extend the gameMarauderMadness wrote: Mon Jan 03, 2022 1:53 pmYes, Howie got all the calls. Trimble should have had 4 times as many fouls. They are a hacking machine, but though they called some many, many fouls by Trimble went uncalled. Howie ruled those refs, no doubt about it.Bball4L wrote: Mon Jan 03, 2022 2:05 pmDid you mention that Trimble had more team fouls until Meigs starting fouling to try and extend the gameMarauderMadness wrote: Mon Jan 03, 2022 1:53 pmYes, Howie got all the calls. The deeper you go in tournament play the more the softer teams get eliminated but I guess you may not have any experience in that areaMarauderMadness wrote: Mon Jan 03, 2022 2:14 pmTrimble should have had 4 times as many fouls. No he played. Had 7 pts.
Welch in the middle just made life tough for the Golden Rockets. He had 17 pts, 16 reb, 4 blocks
Re: Official TVC Boys Basketball Thread
With Trimble beating the brakes off of all their regular season opponents my biggest concern is the players getting complacent. When winning is easy that happens. Hopefully Howie will prevent that from happening by dressing them down and making practice way harder than the games could ever be. tourney time is just around the corner and it would be great to go in undefeated and walk through the sectional and district.

Other than a 10-0 run at the end of the first quarter by Trimble to take a 26-18 lead, Southern played right with them. Trimble led 44-34 at the half and then the final of 82-70. Definitely a competitive game for them last night and a tough game coming up with Chesapeake.

But when you play at Southern that is to be expected. Lucky for the Tomcats Howie can control the refs most of the time and once he got on them a few times the route was on.Very good game last night with Trimble and Southern. I was happy to see Scotty Dale and that other guy from Tom’s butcher shop work hard at keeping the game close. It’s hard to get refs to do a good job cheating the visiting team but these guys were on their game. I just wish we were back in Racine glory days when we didn’t need to cheat to keep games close

Classic Eastern guy pretending to be from southern to stir stuff up. you need some new lines and give up on something that is over 30 years ago. Re: Official TVC Boys Basketball Thread
With the 2022 portion of the boys basketball season underway, things have become very, very interesting in both the TVC-Ohio and TVC-Hocking divisions. Alexander junior Kyler D’Augustino scored a game high 29 points Friday to lead the Spartans to a huge 52-50 win over Vinton County to take over sole possession of first place in the Ohio Division. Alexander improved to 6-7 overall but 4-1 in league play and now owns a ½ game lead over Vinton County and Meigs, who the Spartans also beat back on Dec. 17th. Due to a covid outbreak, the Marauders had to put their season on hold, but will be back on the court this Tuesday for a very important make-up game with the Vikings.
It was almost a forgone conclusion the Trimble Tomcats would just sail through the TVC-Hocking unscathed, but as we hit the midway point of the season, Athens County rival Federal Hocking is hanging right with the ‘Cats. Lancers sophomore point guard Tariq Cottrill drained a school record 10 three pointers Saturday and scored a game high 31 points to lead Fed Hock past Athens 70-53 for its 4th straight win. They knocked off Eastern the night before and will take a (9-3) overall record and perfect (5-0) mark in the Hocking Division into a long awaited showdown versus Trimble at William White Gymnasium on Friday. Because of a postponed game versus Chesapeake, Trimble hasn’t played since its 82-70 win at Southern on Tuesday and will be looking at a 10-day layoff before its clash with the Lancers. The Tomcats are still a perfect 10-0 on the season, including a 5-0 league mark.
Quick hits: As we now have a better observation of all the teams, one thing that has stood out this year is the quality of basketball the small schools (TVC-Hocking) have been playing versus the big schools (TVC-Ohio). Normally, the Ohio Division has the upper hand, but not in 2021/2022. The Hocking has clearly been more dominate, especially in the head to head match-ups. The top three teams in the Hocking Division are a combined (27-6). The top three teams in the Ohio are (20-15). But what about head-to-head when looking at the top teams?
Federal Hocking 78, Alexander 51 (+27)
Trimble 71, Nelsonville-York 31 (+40)
Waterford 84. Alexander 55 (+29)
Trimble 66, Meigs 51 (+15)
Federal Hocking 70, Athens 52 (+18)
Not only are the top three teams a perfect (5-0) versus the Ohio, they are outscoring their big school counterparts by an average of 25.8 points per game. That is an eye-popping stat.
Games to watch upcoming: its rivalry week as Alexander travels to Athens on Friday, Federal Hocking invades Glouster and also on Friday it is the Vinton County Vikings playing host to Wellston.
STANDINGS
Alexander (6-7),(4-1)
Vinton County (7-4),(3-1)
Meigs (7-4),(3-1)
Wellston (5-5),(2-2)
