Why Would Anyone Want To Be Head Football Coach
[Just wondering why anyone would want to put themselves through being a head football coach now a days. Just about every new hire has been attacked on here before the person even has a chance to get started! The kids are poisoned against the new coach before they even coach their first workout, practice, game, or season. At the rate it is going, find a none daddy coach is going to be about as hard as finding an official!

Most coach for the love of the game and the kids they're trying to help shape into men. If a coach is so thin skinned that a site like this or people talking about what he has or hasn't done offends him then he's probably paying attention to the wrong things. When you're the HC it's all on your shoulders, who's poisoning the kids against the new coach?? Parents other kids?? Seems a bit far stretched but then again you've got to be thick skinned and be able to put on the blinders and ear plugs for those that can they coach.

Seems some of those hired recently were done so in a shady manner. Of course the coach being hired has to be aware of that. So, they get what they get when they are part of a shady deal. Schools need to learn to be open and honest when hiring a coach and as transparent as possible. That will help keep the criticism before they "get started" to a minimum. Also, just because a person played on a college team or even in the NFL doesn't mean they can coach well. This has been proven over and over again. So, if you are hiring a coach stop fawning over an ex-OSU player, or ex-NFL player and focus on coaching experience and ability. That will help as well.MTSWNGRVSG wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 6:57 pm [Just wondering why anyone would want to put themselves through being a head football coach now a days. Wonder how much "shadyness" goes on when hiring a history teacher?
Re: Why Would Anyone Want To Be Head Football Coach
Well since he teachers history he's a shoe in to make a hall of fame coach. That ranks higher than an ex-NFL guy, which is a tad higher than a youth league coach.football life wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 10:54 am Wonder how much "shadyness" goes on when hiring a history teacher?

You have to have hide as thick as a rhino's. I don't know why anyone would want the job. Doesn't matter either if you win, there will be those attacking you anyway.
One thing I've noticed over the years of observing is that you'll have a a small % of parents from time to time who's child begins to play for the program. Immediately it seems they want to see changes and gripe a lot...but then when their kid graduates? you'll never see them at another game.

Your region/area is toxic. Small towns = small minds.kantucky wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:56 am You have to have hide as thick as a rhino's. I don't know why anyone would want the job. Doesn't matter either if you win, there will be those attacking you anyway.

Thats why.

Trimble doesn't have that problem. They leave Phil alone for the most part. But if he gets wind of a dad complaining in the lower levels and if the kid is any good at all he lets the dad join the staff and that keeps them quiet. The daddy doesn't really have any say or serve much of a role except maybe to fixe a helmet or two but they think they are really part of the program and that they are the reason their son is getting playing time so it keeps them happy. Then when the kid graduates daddy leaves and all is good. I'm really surprised that coaches at other schools haven't figured this out yet.kantucky wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:56 am You have to have hide as thick as a rhino's.
