Looks like DC Jim Knowles will assume the duties of coaching line backers as he did at Okie State.

Will be interesting to see how all these changes will effect Buckeye recruiting or current team members heading to the transfer portal.

Almost an entirely new defensive staff aside from Larry Johnson, he'll likely stay till he retires. Two coaches from Oklahoma St are joining Knowles as defensive support also which will help him teach the Buckeyes his system. As far as recruits I don't think these changes will have much of a negative impact and we've already seen a couple DBs hit the portal.. as far as LBs they know the starting spots are up for grabs. The only ones I could see transferring is Mitchell & Gaoteote who only have 1 year of eligibility left, they might want to go somewhere they know they will start 100%

Fired OSU linebacker coach Al Washington hired by Notre Dame. That should make the Buckeye opener this fall against the Irish quite interesting.

Dawand Jones elects to forgo the 2022 NFL draft and stay with the Buckeyes for his senior citizen. At 6'8 and 360 pounds, he has the size to dominate but needs work on fundamentals to reach his full potential:

TE and fullback Mitch Rossi to return for a sixth year of eligibility for OSU. Using the extra Covid year, Rossi will provide much needed experience at tight end as Jeremy Ruckert is off to the NFL and Cade Stover has switched to defense.

I'm curious what people think Reid Carrico's chances are of getting some non mop-up playing time this year.

With OSU's lack of depth at linebacker, you would think he would be in line for playing time at LB and special teams. The word is that he has all the intangibles to be a success at OSU but he needs another years development in strength and conditioning to reach his potential.

Looks like OSU is diving deep Into the name, image and likeness compensation wars. I may not like NIL, but at least OSU is being proactive to protect their recruiting efforts and the interests of their athletes.

Big Ten is reported to be considering going to an eight game league schedule and eliminating divisions. If enacted, the changes would allow the Big Ten to participate in the scheduling alliance with the ACC and PAC 12. That would enhance Big Ten out of conference football schedules and help make sure the best two teams instead of division winners play in the conference championship game

Burrow was a 2-3 star that was behind 4-5 stars. Plus he played behind one of the most prolific College Qb's ever. JT was a great College QB that ran Urban's offense perfectly. He continues to hold many records. Yes, he didn't pan out in the NFL but neither did Tebow. Tebow was without a doubt one of the top winning Qb's ever! I am sure he had some guys under him that felt they threw the ball better than him! JS.

Did not pan out in the NFL? LSU with a National Championship was glad for the blind over look.

OSU has announce that Sevyn Banks will not return to the team but that Jeron Cage, Palaie Gaoteote, and Teradja Mitchell will use their extra year of covid eligibility to play for the Buckeyes in 2022. Those returning will give OSU needed depth and experience especially at linebacker. They also create a scholarship roster problem. The Buckeyes are currently 8 scholarships over their allowed limit of 85. I am sure that problem will be rectified by players transferring out after spring practice.

Bb16, @Geronimo ,

The Burrow at OSU debate is best summed up as opportunity lost for the Buckeyes due to Urban Meyer's stubborn but often misplaced loyalty to players. Burrow was not and is not the best passer or best runner. What makes Burrow a success is the intangible will to win bolstered by daring and innate knowledge of the game.

Wasn't it Dwayne Haskins who made Burrow transfer?

Meyer selected Haskins over Burrow after spring practice in 2018 then Burrow transferred to LSU and the rest is history. I believe Burrow broke his hand, adversely effecting his battle Haskins.

OSU gained two more recruits on the last national signing day for the class of 22.

Omari Abor, a four star DE from Texas, and Carson Hinzman, a four star OL from Wisconsin. The signings should be enough to keep OSU fourth in the national recruiting rankings for 2022.
