I think it is all speculation until the MRI is done today. Reports say that he was on the sidelines icing the shoulder and "laughing".

I remember Miller getting thrown in the battlefield as a true freshman. Maybe, if Miller misses time, Barrett can do the same thing Miller did 3 years ago as a redshirt.

Hopefully the media is hyping this up.......keeping fingers crossed. OSU is definitely a different monster with Miller under center.

Same thing I was thinking, Barrett's only a freshmen, but you got to get your feet wet sooner or later imo. Never know, he could be the next star QB for Ohio State.

Miller struggled mightily with his passing his freshman year if I remember correctly and the Bucks had a horrible year,Barrett might be good in years come but with Hyde gone and almost all the lineman it's probably a rebuilding year if he is thrown in there and we don't even know if the defense will improve yet.Anything short of a Big Championship or major bowl is like a rebuilding year at OSU.ESPN sounds pretty confident Miller is out.That 4th or 5th place finish some out of staters predicted earlier is more realistic now,but still hope they can surprise some people.

I seen a couple of Barrett's high school highlights, that boy has some moves and runs like a deer and passes very well. If he has a little interior help, the sky's the limit for him, I can see why he's next in line for the job. :aaaaa59

He not going to run as good as Miller trench, but they say he throws a better ball then Miller at his age. If I was Miller I use the redshirt and come back next year, but the risky thing in that is what if Barrett becomes pretty good then what ya do? Have an open competition and you'll have a good back up.

It doesn't look good but I can't believe they throw in the towel. Not one down has been played yet. The way Urban has recruited for three years now, they better have some talent on that bench! NEXT MAN UP!

If the defense is improved like everyone thinks it will be, I can still see a decent year with the schedule, but really surprised if they would make it to a major bowl let alone the final four.

Defense wins championships! Everyone will write the Buckeyes off but if the D steps up like they are capable and Barrett doesn't totally screw up the Buckeyes should be ok.

Barrett was a 4 star and the number 3 dual threat QB in the class of 2013. He's a very good QB, obviously it's not going to be the same production as with Braxton, but he's more than capable of leading this team. Run the ball, play D and he can manage the game. He and Jones had gotten all the reps in the spring and have had a bunch in fall camp to due Braxton not being rushed back. The season is not lost. I do now think the Buckeyes will lose a game or two though. Braxton says he wants to come back and lead the team in 2015, great to see him being positive about the situation. Sure is a shame, I think he had a real shot at winning the Heisman as well as the Buckeyes making the playoffs. Season kicks off in less than two week. Just have to move forward. Go Bucks!

My question is:

What if Barrett has one of those great redshirt fresh years like Johnny football or Jamies Winston.?? Not saying he will, but what if?? Then Braxton schedules to come back 2015. Be an interesting situation. Even moving forward with Barrett and knowing you have him 2-3 more years will be a tough decision on Meyer. My thinking is move on. However, Braxton could transfer to Graduate school of his choice and stick it to the bucks if that does happen. a lot like Wilson at Wisconsin!!

This thing is starting to smell really bad. Torn labrum in Shoulder vs Clemson. In February he gets scoped. Why? Because if they repair it like it should have been recovery time is anywhere from 6 to 12 months. Do the math. Thats not acceptable. Not there. Now I have a buddy up there who is not really an insider but he knows some people who are and they talk. Braxton has been on a pitch count every other day and has been so sore that he couldnt throw very many of their throws on the route tree on a daily basis. This Monday he throws an out route and my buddy says,even though it has been hushed up there, DISLOCATED his shoulder.

at ain't good , and sounds like ohio state really dropped the ball in his recovery. I'm sure a lot of it was Braxton saying I'm cool. it's okay. but that's the team dr's. decision, I'm sure a Heisman run , and thoughts of a potential playoff game kept the blinders somewhat on.

I think Braxton should re-hab and declare for 2015 draft. Get right, go to the Combine and get his money. Bucks need to move on, too. Better for both.
