Re: D2 District Championship Waverly vs Jackson…. updates
Robertson 23 off two thousand, been faceguarded his entire 4 years and double teamed, and Jackson decides to play him straight up man to man? let him catch it, no doubles, seemed like they weren’t prepared at all. bad coaching and scouting for the Ironmen. just simply let him erupt in the first half and made no adjustments. watched the entire game thinking why have they not doubled? why are they just letting him catch it? the young man is very talented and super exciting to watch, but I feel if Jackson could’ve slowed the pace and made it a gritty game it wouldn’t have been a blowout since 5 minutes left in the first quarter.
also had a very difficult time getting it up the court, with Waverly defense aggressive and scrappy, created a lot of turnovers for Jackson. They just did not have the ball handlers to go against the press, often times I saw Bragg or Miller bringing it up, which created turnovers and fast break points for Waverly. Jackson will get better in the coming years, graduate a lot of seniors, but bring a few bright spots back. Waverly is good, but they are losing a lot too, gonna hurt a lot once Robertson, Stulley, and the Futheys are gone. anyone know if the Robertson coach is staying?
with Valley, Burg, and Waverly winning tonight, and the other SOC II teams losing to opposing SOC II teams, it is clear that they are the best conference in SEO in my opinion. they just simply never have down years. Valley, Minford, Waverly, Webster, Oak Hill, Burg, all tremendous basketball schools that are very well coached young men. I’d take that top 6 over any other conference.

I missed the game last night and didn’t have time to read through all the posts. Can someone fill me in on the results ?
Re: D2 District Championship Waverly vs Jackson…. updates
I was shocked by how many plays Waverly has run for years that seemed to shock Jackson. I think Waverly just scored on another back door screen! Your a huge dog & you go in to the game with little to no scouting report?!? Let’s see if Robertson is a good shooter or not? With that game plan Waverly wins 11 out of 10. Waverly beats anybody the way they played last night. First half was the best half by a team in HS basketball I’ve ever seen.goindians89 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 1:00 am Robertson 23 off two thousand, been faceguarded his entire 4 years and double teamed, and Jackson decides to play him straight up man to man? let him catch it, no doubles, seemed like they weren’t prepared at all. bad coaching and scouting for the Ironmen. just simply let him erupt in the first half and made no adjustments. watched the entire game thinking why have they not doubled? why are they just letting him catch it? the young man is very talented and super exciting to watch, but I feel if Jackson could’ve slowed the pace and made it a gritty game it wouldn’t have been a blowout since 5 minutes left in the first quarter.

That’s pretty insulting to the coaches. Sometimes when you get punched in the mouth it’s hard to focus on some things. Waverly jumped out huge and quick and it affected Jackson defensively much of the game. Play was a bit helter skelter in the 2nd half. Yes, they gave up that play a ridiculous amount of times. I’ll be my house Morrow emphasized Waverly doing that at practice.Shoedaddy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 9:02 amI was shocked by how many plays Waverly has run for years that seemed to shock Jackson. Great game by Waverly, good luck.

Awesome season for Jackson tho. Just getting to this game was a testament to the kids and the program. I’m sure the community is proud of them and also that the coaches put an emphasis on how great their tournament run was despite this blowout game. Hats off to Jackson for making it further than anyone thought they would.

Jackson…..great season under the circumstances and great tournament regardless of circumstances. 3 sectionals in last 4 years and 2 district finals.
Seniors….gonna miss you guys, not only a special group to Jackson basketball but a special group to me. I know these kids wel, coached them all for 1-4 years.
Drew Bragg….thank you. Loved watching you do your thing since 5th grade. Not many bigger fans outside of your family than me. Go tear it up this spring.
Holden Blankenship….have known this kid a long time. Love what he does, great kid and great all-around skill athlete. Another diamond dandy this spring.
Tristan Prater….kid has some gifted instincts and hands. Had a great season up until the injury. Like those above I’ve mentioned, should be on the collegiate fields as well.
Logan Miller….I’ve known him his entire school life. Called him the recess bully during 3rd grade basketball and loved seeing it after coming back from his bad knee injury. Way to finish strong.
Nate Woodard….been friends with his dad for 42 years and have known Nate all along as well. Developed big as defensive specialist and was big in Jackson being district runner ups. Kid will make a run at the state track meet in a few months.
Evan Spires….dangit, such unfortunate luck with injuries. Kid is good at everything, every sport, every position. Great kid and hate that his sports careers were cut short but so glad he is part of the Jackson programs.
Great season and great job by the coaches.
Go Ironmen!
Good stuff

Re: D2 District Championship Waverly vs Jackson…. updates
One of the weaker teams that Morrow has had and still got to a District Title game. With everything Jackson went through this season, they overachieved big time. This has been the best stretch of basketball for Jackson in school history. Never would have happened if someone other than Morrow is hired. Hard place to coach because it's a football school first. Baseball second, and then Basketball. Jackson will have a rough couple of years coming up but the future is bright. Like every other program, there's peaks and valleys. Great season for the Ironmen. They will be making noise again in about 3-4 years
