Onward and upward Waverly !!!
Thanks DC!
I think my ole buddy Dave Helmich was on that team. Did they play Dayton Belmont?
Yeah, they lost to Dayton Chaminade 73-55. I remember Dave mostly as an offensive lineman in football.
Nah that's the bias coming out, it was without a doubt the right call other official even came over and told him good call. So 2 out of 3 officials seen it the exact way, crucial missed free throws made it come down to that ending in regulation.
Not many fouls on either team until McClain had to start fouling.joeboggs1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 11:08 pm I felt like the charge was 100% correct. Waverly was called for 3 fouls the entire 2nd half, not sure how they are unhappy with the officiating at all.
Futhy was a beast and was far and away the difference in the game.
Excellent game all around and very fun to watch. Congrats to Waverly on the win and best of luck in the Elite 8.

Congrats to Waverly on the Elite 8!!! Rough shooting performance tonight.. but player of the game goes to Will Futhey! HUGE game with 17 points and 15 rebounds! That’s a way to work
Keep things rolling Saturday fellas!
I believe they had 10 seniors….oldschoolqb13 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 11:25 pm Yeah, it was a charge. Some were complaining they bodied him all the way to the charge, but I thought the officiating was fine. Will Futhey “Will-ed” us to the win and Trey hit shots when he had to. McClain was physical and very well-coached. How many players do they lose?
I was there, but I was young. Was that the 79-80 season or 80-81?smurray wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 11:29 pm People asking about the last time Waverly made it to the Elite 8. Tigers finished the 1980 regular season 12-8 (playing in the old SEOAL) but then went on a tournament run knocking off state ranked teams along the way.
Waverly met up with Portsmouth in the Regional Final and lost a heartbreaker 48-47 or something like that.
Tigers lead by one and Portsmouth scored with around 6 seconds. Waverly got a good look and shot at the buzzer that fell off.
Waverly AD Bo Arnett was a senior PG on that team.
79-80, my senior year.oldschoolqb13 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 11:32 pmI was there, but I was young.
