Huntington High Jr RB Amari Felder ( football & track) commits to Ironton for 22/23 season
Looks like he made his final decision shortly after that camp hosted by Ironton. Ironton is establishing a pretty steady pipeline out of Huntington more recently.

Solid job on the recruiting trail.
The camps and the marketing and promotion are top notch.

Heck of a RB but coming into a crowded RB room with Carter and Keyes. Someone's going to be the odd man out and I can't imagine them being happy about that.
Nonetheless, still good recruiting by Ironton. Nice get.

Ironton was already good at running back, but they still need to land a few more linemen from the transfer portal.*

It is not recruiting. When you promote your program the way Ironton does, and get kids multiple D1 visits, offers, and exposure, who wouldn't want to come to Ironton? Ironton has Power 5 football coaches around the program 12 months a year, who else in the area can even come close to offering that? The game has changed, the climate has changed, kids have changed, parents have changed, the whole entire landscape of high school athletics has changed, and those who adapt and take advantage will have the most success. You gotta be crazy if you don't want to be an Ironton Fighting Tigers right now!bbjunky81 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 9:22 am Heck of a RB but coming into a crowded RB room with Carter and Keyes. Nice player. Would start for any other team in SEO. Will he start at Ironton though? That's the question.

He won't be starting over Keyes. Probably steals carries from Carter though, and whoever the previous 3rd string RB was.*Tom Smyth wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:59 pm Nice player. Would start for any other team in SEO. Will he start at Ironton though? That's the question.![]()

Yeah, probably doesn’t have to do with the fact that he is connected to Jermaine Keyes’ recruiting service whose sons happen to play for Ironton.Mission15 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:12 pmIt is not recruiting. Let them recruit. Still gonna have to get a lot more players before they can compete with Kirtland or the MAC.Proud_Pirate63 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 2:09 pmYeah, probably doesn’t have to do with the fact that he is connected to Jermaine Keyes’ recruiting service whose sons happen to play for Ironton.Mission15 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:12 pmIt is not recruiting. Ummm promotion and marketing are apects of recruiting. That's exactly what it is.
And ftr I don't disagree with it. It's 2022. I'm not one of these old lawrence co ohio locals who can't evolve. But yea, it's recruiting 1000%

South Charleston and Cabell Midland and Spring Valley and Capital and GW ( all in same conference msac) just to name a few off top) send several kids d1 every year also. Its just not as "promoted." Ironton is just marketing their success more. Other schools in the tri state do this routinely as well. Some programs are more accustomed to it so its not as promoted it seems.ohbuckeye2 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 4:29 pmNailed it!!Mission15 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:12 pmIt is not recruiting. Ironton has snagged a few huntington kids in the last 3 seasons. Developing a pipeline it seems.Proud_Pirate63 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 2:09 pmYeah, probably doesn’t have to do with the fact that he is connected to Jermaine Keyes’ recruiting service whose sons happen to play for Ironton.Mission15 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:12 pmIt is not recruiting. Yup share reps at RB but i expect to see the kid returning kicks and playing considerable time at WR. With him, Perkins, Martin, Carter, Terry ( another huntington kid) and Young they are stacked at the skill positions.art_vandelay wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 1:04 pmHe won't be starting over Keyes. He's friends with the other Huntington kid. Terry i believe is the last name. Probably using that as his residence. Looks like there is a familiar relationship there also.Proud_Pirate63 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 2:09 pmYeah, probably doesn’t have to do with the fact that he is connected to Jermaine Keyes’ recruiting service whose sons happen to play for Ironton.Mission15 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:12 pmIt is not recruiting.
