2022 Cincinnati Reds
Re: 2022 Cincinnati Reds
Cincinnati is never going to compete financially for top talent like NY or LA, yet their team payroll for 2022 is higher than 15 other MLB teams, all who have better records than the Reds. So you have to ask whether it is being cheap, or being inept in managing the franchise.efarns wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 2:25 pm Sadly, Major League salaries have priced baseball out of some markets.

Aquino 049 avg Votto 136 avg one fine CEO the season is over before it got started !!!
Re: 2022 Cincinnati Reds
Well, if it is any consolation, the Reds have moved up from 30th place in team batting to 29th in MLB through Friday's games. Cincy's team average is up to .206.
The real problem is pitching with a team ERA of 6.04, dead last in the majors. The Reds ace on the active roster, Tyler Mahle, is 1-3 with a 6.45 ERA. That and the hope for pitching help from rookies Greene and Lodolo apparently is a mirage. Lodolo is on the IR and Greene is learning pitching in the majors requires more than a fast ball.

Re: 2022 Cincinnati Reds
3-18 is the worst start since 2018 and losing 16 out of 17 has not happened since 1945. They will get some wins. Maybe today cause the Rockies are not that good and Pittsburg is not good. So it will look like we are improving but it’s just wins against teams just as bad. But at least Aquino is gone. They designated him for assignment.

Just hard to watch.. you feel bad for the current players and yes, I'll even say David Bell. You have tons of guys playing new roles or roles they shouldn't even be put in and they can only do so much. Bell is simply trying to make do with what he has. Injuries are not helping this scalped team very much either..
This is simply a full on Castellini issue. If they decide to make Bell the scapegoat, that's again a Front Office issue. At this point, you almost hope this trend of losing continues so MLB either does something to prevent it and Castellini's have to spend, or they're forced to sell.

Re: 2022 Cincinnati Reds
They could be competent and compete for the middle of the pack, and maybe challenge for a division one out of ten years. Over the long haul, it makes little difference. I used to be a big MLB fan, but the playing field is so terribly skewed to the big markets, I haven't followed it much lately. I think, a year or two ago, the entire AL Central was so middling, Indians (that's what they were at the time) announcers were talking about anybody close to .500 being a division contender.Omega wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 3:23 pmCincinnati is never going to compete financially for top talent like NY or LA, yet their team payroll for 2022 is higher than 15 other MLB teams, all who have better records than the Reds. So, maybe some of Cincinnati's plans didn't come together this year. That happens. It's pretty easy for the bottom to fall out when it was thin to begin with.

I have decided not to spend any money in Cincinnati this year. They won't miss me much.

Roster was cut from 28 to 26. Doesn’t help the reds who are struggling in all areas

Re: 2022 Cincinnati Reds
Good news is the Reds were off today, so they didn’t lose. Bad news is they travel to Milwaukee for a series with the first place Brewers. Don’t see any wins coming there.

Re: 2022 Cincinnati Reds
Reds lost to the Brewers 18-4 tonight lol. Guy for the Brewers had 8 RBI’s himself. I didn’t watch, just seen the score. Couldn’t force myself to watch honestly.

Crap happens. My grand kids youth team is 1-10. They have the same players as they did when they went 14-2 last fall. Sometimes bad juju happens.
