Well....we went as far as our lackluster and porous defense could take us. I am still a believer in that defense wins championships and tonight proved that this theory is pretty valid. I am not going to jump on the bashing wagon and I am very thankful of what this team has accomplished for the past two years and for the two victories over tsun. I do believe that out offense is and has been performing at a championship level, but we were lacking the most decisive aspect......a defense!

As we limp in to probably the Orange Bowl to take on Clemson.....I hope that our team comes to play and not simply throw in the towel for not reaching the National Championship. Maybe the nation can get off OSU's back as they have finally received what they have been longing for...a Buckeye loss. Unfortunately though, this will become a common outcome if they do not make some coaching and coordinator adjustments within the program to get this defensive (or lack there of) situation shored up. I like Fickell....but it is time for him to go if we ever want to develop our program into a true national contender.

Through good times and bad.....win or lose...I am still a Buckeye through and through!

I understand you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. You have to play the defense you have. Having said that, I'll be the a $$ hole and say what everybody else is tip toeing around. Fickel has to go. Right after the bowl game. A fresh start is needed on that side.

Tough loss for the Buckeyes last night. I agree, 24-1 is a record anyone would take, but just like last weekend when my Tide got beat, its when you have that 1 loss that matters. Bama and OSU both had the chance to advance but for some reason just couldn't get it done. Two outstanding programs, great traditions and fans that are crazy loyal about their respective programs.

Well put Mike. Buckeye nation is reeling this morning no doubt, but we'll bounce back!

Hey I deserve any comments I get. Just keep it clean please. I've ordered KC Masterpiece for my crow today.First off i'm tickled to death to be a Buckeye win, lose or tie. With that said i'm not into moral victories, But a 24-1 start under Urban Meyer. I'll take anyday.Props to MSU they shut us down. They are not the number 1 defense in the country for nothing, or the number 10 team in the land, or 11-0. What really upset me more than anything was how Braxton Miller was utilized.nearly every 3rd down, we went empty backfield, which means 5 recievers, and no lead blocker, then we jam Miller up the middle. never even attempting to pass. our secondary was exposed again. And MSU'S secondary blanketed us the whole game.we tackled poorly again. And silly personal fouls directly contributed to a 17-0 deficit. But we stormed back and were up a touchdown. We just clammed up. I do feel we were outcoached. But it was still a great game.Braxton got rattled and threw a lot of balls too low, Hyde was not utilized enough. I felt offensively we needed to go at a much faster pace. But hey i'm the one sitting on the couch drinkin sweet tea n munchin on trail mix. Great start under Urban Meyer, great year Buckeyes. And square some things away before the bowl game. We lost to a fine team.Oz

I couldn't sleep last night after the Buckeyes debacle in the Big Ten Championship game and as I was lying in bed this came to me so I got up and wrote it down.

Twas the day after Sparty had just whipped our a$$
The Buckeye nation was stunned, every laddie, every lass

Our offense looked weak, the defense pathetic
Sparty looked superb, both quick and athletic

Once again we make a QB look like a superstar
He launched passes all over, some near and some far

They scored the first seventeen, us the next twenty four
Then they took over the game and scored seventeen more

We relied on a man that goes by the name Fickle
And when all was said and done we were in a terrible pickle

Urban had some great victories, twenty four in a row
Some in bright sunshine and some in the snow

But it wasn't to be on this long fateful eve
Disappointing the fans, some even named Steve

Now on to a bowl game that they call the Orange
And I just realized not a darn thing rhymes with orange

We will play that team from Clemson who I'm sure are Tiger proud
Their fans will be boisterous, their fans will be loud

We must pull up our boot straps and play a lot better
And be thankful our coach doesn't wear that darn sweater

So to all the Buckeye faithful, every laddie and every lass
Let's go down to Miami and kick some Tiger a$$!!

The zone defense is a joke.
DB's are horrible. ( Roby sux)
Not enough playmakers on offense.
Receivers are too small and cant catch.
3rd and 4th down and 2 and Hyde doesn't touch the ball. Would love to see a power I.
D line is young but will be great next year.
Wilson = all hype.
Props to Urban for sitting Hall.
I would rather see OSU
Win their Bowl than get destroyed in the championship game.

There is 20 some players on Msu from Ohio wonder how many was not recruited by or told they were not good enough to play for Ohio state. I know one that was told that can't wait to see his B1G championship ring. Congrats Trevon Pendleton.

Ohio is a fertile recruiting ground. A perennial national top 5 state. There are way more D1 football athletes then there are D1 roster spots in the state. And that's saying a lot considering how many D1 college football teams we have, not including the lower levels. Bottom line, lots of kids from Ohio play at scUM, Sparty, ND, etc. Besides, 75% of Sparty's Ohio kids come from Northern Ohio which has large fan bases for other, out of state schools. Maybe some kids simple didn't want to be buckeyes. Charles Woodson, Jevon Ringer, Elvis Grbac, Desmond Howard, the Golic's, the list goes on and on. Ohio State can't recruit and sign every kid, scholarship limits ya know.

The defense played as well as the players they had available to play. Injuries and the loss of scholarships really showed at the end of the year. The Buckeyes were unable to rotate players in during the games because of lack of quality depth. Causing the starters to play a lot of snaps. Reality the Buckeyes overachieved this year but was able to play together as a team to mask some of their weaknesses. It takes time to get players in as well as learn the system.
Always room to improve playing Clemson would be better to keep the media from bashing OSU as they like to do. OSU got slammed for giving up so many points to UM but the SEC title game both teams had giving up that many points after 3 quarters. People will bash OSU but the future is bright.

Very proud of the Buckeyes 24-1 run, and congratulations to Michigan State. Without overanalyzing the game, I just think our number came up after 24 straight wins. As much as Buckeye Nation loves the Scarlet and Gray, the reality is that they can't win 100 games in a row. The most disappointing aspect of the game was the pass defense which helped Connor Cook have a career high in yards, but the secondary has been shaky all year.

Clemson will make some big plays via the pass, so I don't expect anything to drastically change in that area. I think the Buckeyes can win, though, in a scorefest.........I told several people after the B10 championship game that Coach Meyer will fix the pass defense problems when the 2014 season starts. No reason to think that OSU won't be the hunt for the B10 championship next year, but it would certainly help if Braxton Miller returns. If he doesn't, I wonder who the QB will be.........Jones or Barrett?
