Portsmouth West 34 Portsmouth 7 2022
Big one. Phs can limit mistakes. They may win a lot of games. Valley should’ve ran ball all night instead of passing. If west rams sissel down phs throat I can see west 34-13. But I like phs talent to take this. Not sure how good corners are for west. But they better get ready for Pendleton and Lattimore.
I’ll say
Phs 37-west 27
I’ll say
Phs 37-west 27

Re: West at PHS week 2. 2022.
PHS looks weird, should change it Portsmouth. I think West will win this game. Fairland is a solid team, West could’ve and maybe should’ve won that game. Sissel will have a huge game against Portsmouth. They don’t have the personal upfront to stop him like Fairland did. I think we will see some points put up, as I’m sure Portsmouth will go deep on West quite often. I hope I’m wrong but I’ll say 45-26 West.

Re: West at PHS week 2. 2022.
I walked out of Fairland high school with a very bad feeling in my gut. An extra point, 2 bad plays in coverage, and a fumble on your own 2. That was the game. They did nothing else offensively to put points on the board. Props to their defense. Fairland is a very good team and very well coached.
We have to figure out how to win games in the 4th. That's atleast the 4th loss in 2 years to my count that we have entered the 4th with a lead, and left with a loss. That is inexcusable.
Onto this week. It's a rivalry game, this one can get chippy. Each defense plays against the others bread and butter so i could see this being a run vs pass shootout. I dont think Ptown can stop Sissel but im not confident we can stop Lattimore either.
I want to see West come out with some fire early. I dont know why but when they come on the field before kickoff they just look lifeless. I want to see some excitement. And maybe an early loss is the best thing for them. They are kids and I know they read the hype. Maybe they believed in themselves too much and needed a piece of humble pie. Need to get this win badly and get back to The Rock for the first time in 3 years. Gonna go Siders 44-31

Re: West at PHS week 2. 2022.
Sissel will be a handful no doubt we will definitely need the effort we got from Noah Livingston against valley , 18 tackle and was hitting pretty good.
I agree with this could be a run attack against air attack, not sure what west has in the pass game, but Portsmouth has 4 maybe 5 receivers he can throw to and they can all run pretty good ,with latimore being the number 1 .....nor predicting a score or winner without seeing west ,but.....it's Portsmouth vs Portsmouth west ,what else do we need to say lol.
Looking forward to a great game

Re: Portsmouth West at Portsmouth week 2
West coming off a tough loss to Fairland I don't think they can afford to go down 0-2 look for a little more fire this week. West by 14
Week 2: Portsmouth West @ Portsmouth
If anyone has any stats from each team’s week 1 contests, it would be greatly appreciated. Any other miscellaneous information about each team, as well as any players would also be greatly appreciated!

Re: West at PHS week 2. 2022.
Wests secondary can’t compete with Trojans receivers or QB. Running game edge goes to West. Portsmouth needs to not make the mental mistakes they did against Valley. If it comes down to a shoot out PHS should win, but I think this game is over late in the 3rs qtr. Trojans win 38-21.

Re: West at PHS week 2. 2022.
This should be a dandy, #3 for the Trojans will be a handful for West. I believe if the Trojans D puts 2 good halves together like they played the 2nd Half vs Valley they’ll be just fine.
Re: West at PHS week 2. 2022.
Run vs. Pass game here indeed. Although I think Irwin can sling it around, I don’t think you’ll see a ton of throws from him. Heavy dose of Sissel & Irwin ground game is what I think West will do. The Trojans will come out and throw the ball everyone knows that. Can West contain the receivers Portsmouth has? Lattimore had a great game against Valley, but let’s not forget Pendleton was the teams leading receiver last year and is back, Jayden Duncan is also back. Both scored against Valley, although Pendletons wasn’t via a pass. Throw in Nolan Heiland and that’s 4 kids that can really hurt anyone in the passing game. Heiland had a huge catch where he went up between 2 defenders and brought it down. West will absolutely get to see what their secondary is made of. Last season Sissel had a nice game against the Trojans, but West turned the ball over a lot 5 or 6 times I believe. I think Portsmouth will need to force more turnovers this week like they did last week, and last year against the senators. Should be a fun game. Will be the Trojans home opener, I’m guessing we see those new Umm interesting jerseys they have this season. As far as predicting the outcome I won’t do that, however I do think a good bit of points will be scored.

Re: West at PHS week 2. 2022.
Fairland was a good team.
West could’ve and probably should’ve won that game. Giving up 19 yards rushing and like 150 total yards usually means a victory, but mistakes and special teams errors were the difference. Hopefully they clean those up this week. If they do I think West wins.

Best game of the week in my opinion. This is going to answer a lot for these two teams.

definitely a good game, definitely will answer a lot of questions.
But game of the week is Ironton v Jackson, let's not kids ourselves lol.

Re: Week 2: Portsmouth West @ Portsmouth
I'm still perplexed as to how West can lead nearly every statistical category and lose the game. Granted, the PAT hurt them, but still. Stats make it look like a fairly comfortable win for West, yet they lost.

Re: Week 2: Portsmouth West @ Portsmouth
Portsmouth defense will need to keep forcing turnovers. They were very good at this last year and week one vs Valley. They don't have the size to line up and stuff people at the line and will have to use speed and schemes. Last year I believe they forced West into 5 or 6 turnovers and will likely need a similar performance to come out with a win this year.

FG Kicking is the most underrated position in football, particularly HS. PAT ended up being the difference maker

Re: West at PHS week 2. 2022.
Hopefully starting with this week the Trojan defense will show signs of improvement. It's a must if PHS is to have a winning season. We Trojan fans have seen good offensive teams end up on the short end of the scoreboard due to a porous defense. Valley had almost 400 yards of offense, and that can't happen vs. West.
