Piketon 27 Oak Hill 7 2022

Post by gator81 »

Thoughts on this one?
The Oaks came out strong on defense in week one. Will the Redstreaks fall prey or meet the challenge?

Not to sure how good Wellston was but it’s hard to pitch shut outs nowadays. Piketon is very one dimensional(hard to replace last years squad), although they have a really talented Running back in Wilson. He should have at least 15-20 touches a game, showed break away speed. With the type of players Piketon has they may want to switch to Clinton Massie type offense this year. This one I believe is a toss up!

Well 2 teams coming in 1-0 but neither of them beat anyone in week 1 so we'll see what happens. Oak Hill pitching a shutout is impressive even though Wellston is going to struggle mightily this year. I'll take the oaks by 7

Piketon showed grit in driving with 6 minutes left to score and get the 2 point conversion to take the lead. Goshen was pretty disciplined for a team that struggled last year, only 2 penalties and no turnovers, almost an interception but Piketon was called for defensive holding. Piketon had 10 or so penalties, mostly false starts, going to happen with new kids, and one interception.

As for oak hill, I know nothing, but I’m going to say the Streaks by a score! Lets Go Streaks!

This will be only the second time Oak Hill and Piketon have ever played.

Oak Hill won in 1958, 60-6.

Oak Hill effectively ran the ball down Wellston’s throat. However, that’s Piketon’s strength this year as well. Interesting matchup to say the least. For Oak Hill it’ll determine how good they are this year. I don’t see this being a high scoring game.

Very surprised these two have only played once, similar sized schools and not very far

Oak Hills front looks good, but wait until teams start to throw on them. Secondary is the weak spot as always.

I thought the Red Streaks played very well last night, especially on defense. Great coverage by the backfield, which allowed the defensive front to put relentless pressure on the Oaks QB. Had to have around a dozen sacks. Too many penalties on the Streaks though.

The Streaks graduated a fantastic class last year, but a lot of these kids contributed in ways as well. Plus, they got a couple of extra weeks of practice too.

All of that is paying off with 2 solid wins to start the year. Better not take Piketon lightly or you’ll go home with an L.
