2nd half adjustments by Irontons defense was a factor.Ed Gennero wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 11:31 pmAbsolutely ridiculous comment. Blame always has to be assigned when a team loses. Win as a team , lose as a team.

Re: Ironton@Jackson Week 2
Yes they made some adjustments. But Jackson not letting Winters get in the gun and play was puzzling given the first half. They were unstoppable.THEEE_GAME wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 11:50 pm2nd half adjustments by Irontons defense was a factor.Ed Gennero wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 11:31 pmAbsolutely ridiculous comment. Great post, doesn’t get any better of an atmosphere than what it was at Jackson tonight. Prayers for the gentleman on the chain gang, hope he’s doing ok.Ironman92 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:43 pm I’ll say this….8000 people came to the game tonight and one team walked away winners and one team took the L, but there weren’t any losers on that field tonight. Dozens of kids just played their absolute hearts out for themselves, their team, their school and their families. It was a legendary effort from both teams and both sides of the ball. What a cheap night of incredible entertainment. Every sports fan loves effort and those kids were all gassed and all laid it out there. What a game and what an atmosphere. I appreciate the effort from every kid that stepped on that field tonight. I’ll always root for every kid that plays their heart out. Man it was top level tonight!
Mad respect from each team to the other.
Great effort tonight Ironmen…..keep working. Super high ceiling! Good luck the rest of the way Ironton

Curious, is this the first time a female has scored for Ironton? Or even OVC

Re: Ironton@Jackson Week 2
Great game that came down to the wire.
On the Jackson side, Winters is legit (although I’m not a fan of him shoving Ironton players back into the ground after a tackle). Almost every single pass was exactly where it needed to be unless he was pressured, and even then still made some excellent throws. They noticed the right side was weaker with injuries and cramp ups to Amari Felder and Shawn Terry and kept attacking there.
For Ironton, real gutsy win, played decently clean compared to other Pendleton led teams. Not overly happy about continuing to play injured players when it was clearly affecting their play. Not too many play calls to complain about either, a few dropped passes that should’ve been caught, before half Carpenter threw an interception that would’ve been tackled in the middle of the field if caught so the decision was confusing at best.
Special teams was really a big part of this game as I’m pretty sure the only 2 drives in the second half for Ironton that wasn’t short field were the 2 fumbles by Jackson. The blocked PAT also low key played a part in the score being 29-26 instead of potentially 28-28 late in the 4th.
Overall a great physical game to watch that could’ve went either way and kudos to both teams. Good luck to both teams and a speedy recovery for both sides and the chain gang member!

Pretty sure Fairland had a female kicker a few years ago. But the first for Ironton for sure.
Re: Ironton@Jackson Week 2
Rock Hill also has a female kicker which gave them the game winning point against Vinton County last night in overtime

Fairland had a girl kicker last year that beat nelsonville York last second in the playoffs last year.

I caught the end of 3rd quarter and 4th after the Portsmouth game and wow. I thought the tigers were beat. Great game and both teams are really good I hated to see one lose. I bet all the kids are sore today. Both defenses are very stout.

Re: Ironton@Jackson Week 2
Ironton’s linebackers Barnes and Carter and the use of #71 Moore at NG were a huge key to the 2nd half in this game. Moore ate up the middle the entire second half and allowed the linebackers to put some heavy shots on Winters and the RBs of Jackson. Carter had 15 or so tackles and caused 2 fumbles, one of which he recovered with Jackson in the red zone. I believe Barnes caused the Winters fumble at the goal line and he had a few tackles for a loss. Ironton has to clean up the secondary before playoff time or they will be sent home early. Way too many open receivers last night.
Re: Ironton@Jackson Week 2
Freshman #24 Williams with a big hit on special teams after halftime that caused a fumble. The set the tone for 2nd half! What a game though! Winters is a stud but Ironton played fast the 2nd half. Officiating was terrible both ways
