Do the Chieftan's get their 2nd win of the season against their storied rival's the Athen's Bulldog's? Could and should be a pretty good ballgame.
Re: Athens vs Logan 2022
Athens needs a ball game to get a start on the TVC and this could be the game.

Re: Athens vs Logan 2022
Would like to see Athens get the win but I think it will be Logan coming out on top.
Re: Athens vs Logan 2022
I like Athens in this one if they play like they did against vc I think they win wasn’t expecting them to play that hard at 0-4 very physical heard they have gotten some kids back against vc so I look for them to be in or win several games the rest of the year

They played great against VC last week.Albundy33 wrote: Sun Sep 18, 2022 9:04 pm I like Athens in this one if they play like they did against vc I think they win wasn’t expecting them to play that hard at 0-4 very physical heard they have gotten some kids back against vc so I look for them to be in or win several games the rest of the year
Re: Athens vs Logan 2022
Logan offense is the key here. The Logan D has played very well but in these games where they are on the field a long time they are gassed late. Logan offense had a drive last week for 8 mins and came up empty. The Red Zone has been an area where the offense goes to die apparently bc its been a black hole all year. Chiefs need to produce after long sustained drives. Should be a good one this week.

Re: Athens vs Logan 2022
Neither team is scoring at a high clip.
And neither team is turning redzone trips into points.
I think both teams are going to play desperate - looking for an important win and most importantly a rivalry win!
Has the makings of a great football game.

Logan will need to put pressure on the QB and not just let the D backs defend. Athens QB is good and sooner or later we will see it.

Logan will get win #2. The pups are poor and Logan has played much better competition. Won’t be close.

95th meeting between Logan and Athens. THATS why you can throw out records when they play.
NOTES PER THE LOGAN MEDIA GUIDE FROM SPENCER WAUGH:
Tonight is the 95th meeting between the Athens Bulldogs
and the Logan Chieftains since LHS official records began in 1912. The teams first
met in 1914, and Logan leads the all-time series 53-36-5. The teams were both
founding members of the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League and competed as league
rivals through 2007.
Athens has only 12 upper classmen on their roster – including only five seniors –
and relies on a plethora of freshmen and sophomores. Building for the future, the
green and gold are winless but were very competitive in losses to Marietta,
Alexander, and Vinton County the last three weeks.
Who to watch: Logan .... Senior halfback Varik Fick is the Chieftains leading
rusher with 545 yards and three touchdowns on 78 carries. Senior Brayden Sturgell
will play all over the field, taking direct snaps out of the shotgun, as a split end, and
even as a halfback. Guard Dalton Brooks is key on Logan’s offensive line.
Defensively, senior end Ryan Harden led the purple and white with 10 tackles last
week to take the overall season lead with 39 stops. Defensive back Sturgell added 8
and interior lineman Kallen Wilson added 7. Corners Izaak Swope and Easton Castle
each have made two interceptions to lead LHS in that department.
- Who to watch: Athens.... Sophomore quarterback Braeden Young leads the
Bulldogs in rushing (166 yards, two scores) and passing (352 yards on 35-72
passing). Senior all-purpose back Landon Wheatley (119 rushing, 156 passing, and
15 receiving) hopes to return from injury. Senior Levi Neal leads the team with 17
receptions for 185 yards and Marcus Stevers adds 10 catches for 191 yards and two
scores.
Defensively Athens is allowing just under 30 points and 300 yards of offense per
game. Linebackers Seth Hart, Luke Brandes, Brady Wharton, and Luke Kaiser all
play aggressive and downhill. Wheatley plays a hybrid linebacker-defensive back
role and Neal anchors the defensive line.
-
White lids... The Chieftains are wearing white helmets this season for the first time
since 1985. Logan only wore white in the post leather helmet era until switching to
purple in 1986 but have brought back the white lids thanks to a campaign led by
former Chieftains from the 1970s. The spear on the side of the helmet has
