I wish I knew why they go elsewhere. There is around 150 kids that go to other schools from the district across all of the grades. One of them is Valleys QB. I can't say for sure about the ticket sales, just something I was told. I don't know why they wouldn't want to move to SOC1, makes sense by the size of the school.jujubean wrote: Sat Sep 17, 2022 3:57 pm NW97, couple of things- Valley although a small school has played in the SOC2 since 2006. In 2005 Valley won the SOC 1 (11-2, 5-0) and played Northwest, Minford, Wheelersburg and Waverly as part of their non-conference. I don't think "gate money" is why they stay.
As far as athletes going to different schools that live in NW district - not sure who they are but maybe one should ask the question to why that happens and try and fix it.

Re: WK5 VALLEY VS NORTHWEST
NW97, I think your right about enrollment size. SOC 1 makes sense. However, the other small schools probably wouldn't allow it. In other sports, playing the small schools doesn't provide the competition that SOC2 provides night in and night out. However, if I'm not mistaken Valley is in small school soccer conference. Don't know why, but I've never understood the SOC.

For someone to say Valley was in the SOC I to get confidence in their players i just laugh. Valley never struggled in the SOC I and played pretty much every SOC II team. Numerous undefeated/playoff teams. When was the last time NW made the playoffs and please do not count the covid year because everybody made the "playoffs". Big difference in NW dropping down compared to Valley playing in the SOC I. Valley just does not have the numbers as they used to here recently. I think the classes coming up will make a difference but as of now they are struggling with numbers.

I would like to see them go to three divisions in the SOC.

Sorry! I worded that wrong. I was meaning who ever said that about Valley.sportsfan2244 wrote: Wed Sep 21, 2022 12:36 pm 3 divisions would be good and were stating i don't know what I'm talking about?
Re: Valley 22 - 37 Northwest 2022
3 divisions would make alot of sense. SOC 2 is so different top to bottom. Neither Northwest or Valley have much of a chance at an SOC 2 title.

Who would be in the 3 divisions? Why make a 3rd division and not a new conference? Isnt Valley a Division 6 school now and NW a Division 5. So it makes sense that they would switch. Most of SOC 1 is VI and VII.

Northwest is very close to dropping to Division 6 as was West.SOCobserver wrote: Wed Sep 21, 2022 6:03 pm Who would be in the 3 divisions? Why make a 3rd division and not a new conference? The cutoff is 153 and Northwest and West is both at 160.

Re: Valley 22 - 37 Northwest 2022
I think Valley was originally put into Soc 1 due to enrollment when the Soc went from one to two divisions in the late 70’s early 80’s. Northwest , Oak Hill and possibly Valley (if the current trend continues)are kind of in no mans land as far as Soc Football. They are on the smaller end of the Soc 2 and haven’t been competitive but are also too big for the Soc 1.

No way I see valley dropping. If they drop I drop. You are challenged every single day of your life. Get used to it. Learn to fight your way thru adversity. Cutting and running to another team or job teaches you nothing. Stand your ground!!! Fight!

Soc2 numbers would look pretty good if you get rid of wavelry and Burg

Rumor is Waverly to FAC but of course its a rumor, May happen in the next 2-3 years.
That would force Wburg to make a decision on what they want, especially at a football standpoint. They may be better off trying to go to the OVC with Ironton Fairland, gallia CG and Portsmouth giving them a better game then most other SOC 2 schools.

It's not like Waverly and Burg have been trading the SOCs back and forth. Waverly one it once and all Burg the last 10 or so years. I dont know why Waverly would be the deciding factor for Burg to leave the Soc.baseball16 wrote: Thu Sep 22, 2022 8:07 am Rumor is Waverly to FAC but of course its a rumor, May happen in the next 2-3 years.
