Re: 16 Teams per Region
Ohsaa is in such a huge whole from covid and if it helps support all sports I’m ok with it. Also it gives everyone an opportunity to see better reg season games because 1-2 losses don’t kill you so teams will schedule tougher. Also the team you are week 1-3 isn’t the team you are week 10. Teams do improve that’s why you see many lower seeds win come tournament time. Decide these games on the field.

more football is great for everyone. I know I woulda killed for one more game my senior year. 16 is a lot in the lower divisions, but the gap between 1 & 16 in the higher divisions isn't extremely absurd.

I like it, it allows teams to be more flexible with schedules

Plus it gets upcoming teams playoff experience. Gets other kids in the school more excited for football. Then maybe more kids will play. Kirtland beat down of Fort Frye in round 1 in 2012 really spring boarded the program. Made team more hungry and got kids in the weight room.

Re: 16 Teams per Region
The only thing it takes away is the prestige level of accomplishment for making the playoffs. The only time NOW that you hear programs like Ironton, Jackson, Burg are when these type of programs DO NOT MAKE the playoffs. These schools will need a tax levy passed for an additional space to paint on the wall playoff appearances.
the teams that were unbelievably good that in the past did not make it. I remember a Jackson team. That went 9-1 finished in the TOP FIVE final rankings in the AP Poll. And missed the playoffs of just the top 4 teams making it post season. Those teams I felt for in a bad way but that feeling was helped with the 8team format. Most of those teams are goin to make it in the top 8.
Going to 16 doesn’t suprise me post Covid , streaming high school football games now is the norm , the CFP is expanding to 12 teams , there’s NIL deals , no head to head shots in the game anymore , pee wee football national televised events on ESPN, transfers at levels,
My point is. Football changes. Times change. No matter how we feel about it. Either. Expect. And adopt to it. Or. Get left behind.
It’s March Madness in high school football. THERE WIlL BE somewhere along the lines of this. Cinderella stories. Which team is going to the the first in history to be a #16 get to the final four , state game , shoot even put the state trophy in the schools lobby. Or #9,10, etc seed. Those stories will be told in the future.
Sooooo….get hot at that right time in late fall and your chances to win it all are just as good as the top 4 seeds.
Should be fun.

Got a team like Waverly that may end up 5 and 5 and miss playoffs because they played teams that where loaded. I know I wouldnt want to have a Waverly Team as my first game because they will be 12-16 spot if they make it.

You don’t have to go to the 16-1 matchups if you don’t want to. People are not getting that Football funds so many sports. Ohsaa needs all the money they can get. They’ve been laying ppl off.

Would you rather have an extra round of football or have Ohsaa start canceling other smaller sports? I actually loved the season starting a week early.

Re: 16 Teams per Region
They were going to 12 teams and top 4 teams would have a bye but coaches did not like that. Teams are rolling by week 11 and coaches would rather play a lower seed than take a week off.
Re: 16 Teams per Region
I don’t like 16 teams but these kids have four short years to enjoy playing the game they love, after that most kids will never play football again in their life. So while 16 is a lot, I am fine with these kids getting more games.

Its a stupid arse idea. Once week 10 finsihes we need to be focusing on basketball and not playing as a 16 seed.
1980-82.....the glory days of Southern basketball. We almost did it!

Way too many teams.
Kids are going to get hurt. Some affecting their basketball seasons.
Money is the right answer though.

Well you know people want to see more games like Ironton vs South Point or Chesapeake again.
Only Ironton will have more to lose with a key player getting injured.
16 is way to many 8 was just fine.

No way. In 1999 Chilli went 9-1 and lost to eventual state semi finalist Upper Arlington. They did not make the playoffs at 5th position. Woulda been a tough out for anyone that year. Chilli was LOADED.

Yuck.
You really want 10-0 teams not making it? Let’s decide it on the field not by computers.
