Re: WK8 Waverly - Wheelersburg
Statement win for sure. Kudos to Jones, looked a lot more comfortable passing tonight. This game was never in question. Bye week next week and then at West. Should finish out a solid 8-2 season and hitting stride for the playoffs. Will most definitely be a tough out, hope we get another shot at Ironton

Burg a way better team than we are. They will not have any problems with West at all. I herd people talking about our secondary tonight and just have to say quit pointing fingers because they had to run by your d line then your linebackers before the secondary. The coaches wives scream at everything and are embarrassing. I was sitting by the wheel chair ramp and could hear it the whole game.
Congrats to Burg they are good team.

I assume that was the ladies screaming about the spot at the refs while down 0-28 in first half making it a 4th and 8 as opposed to a 4th and 6. I got a chuckle out of it at least.*Waverlyintheday wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 10:58 pm Burg a way better team than we are. They will not have any problems with West at all. Re: WK8 Waverly - Wheelersburg
Going off of what I seen earlier in the year, no Burg wasn't on par with Chillicothe or JC which is why I said that. Burg I felt last night has grown leaps and bounds since the beginning of the year and as of right now yes I'd put them on par with Chillicothe and JC and after seeing the improvements they've made they have a strong shot at coming out and winning their region.ballplayer1992 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 8:20 pmAfter watching all 3 teams play this season, Wheelersburg is in EVERY way, shape, and form on par with, or possibly even better than, Chillicothe and Johnson Central. The disparity in speed between Wheelersburg and Waverly is vast. Waverly looks like they're stuck in quicksand tonight.Tigernation2021 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 12:00 amNot a bad assessment and who knows that could be the final score but in no way shape or form is this years Burg team on par with Chillicothe and JC. I would probably put burg more in par with a Unioto, strong running game, good against the run but not really going to pass to beat you. With that being said these are the games later in the year you hope your schedule has helped prepare you for. I think burg takes this one but don't be shocked if it's closer than most are going to give us credit for.
Re: WK8 Waverly - Wheelersburg
Last year’s Waverly team was really good. The QB, top two receivers, and some strong players along the lines graduated.
Frankly, I think Waverly was better than Burg last year, but fortunately for Burg, Waverly got off to a slow start in the game and ran out of time on the comeback.
I watched Waverly play D4 champ Clinton Massie. Waverly gave them a game. Just too many mistakes, or Waverly may have pulled off the win.

Re: WK8 Waverly - Wheelersburg
Congrats to the Pirates on a good win, I said going into this one everyone complaining about the secondary was crap considering we were giving up 300 a game on the ground plus they were having to come up and make tackles. A few observations from the game, 1 does the Wheelersburg basketball staff know anything about the 6-7 guys burg had on defense that were 6-3 and taller?? Wheelersburg has ran the jet sweep against waverly and just used outside runs for the last what 3-4 years now and for whatever reason Waverly has no answer for it, it's as if we think they're going to stop it on their own. We're so worried about what they do offensively in the games leading into the season maybe we need to focus on the games we've played against them in the past. 2nd down and 25 and you run a jet sweep for 30 yard gain, really?? The moment the sweep motion was headed that way DE's should've been shifting outside more to gain leverage, Wyatt done this on one play and it was stopped for 2 yards. Defensively when you lineup and the other team sends 6-7 blockers to a side with 4 defenders that'll never get anything stopped Burg simply outnumbered us in the running plays blocker vs defender.
Offensively we were so lost in our play calling that the offense would've had to play perfect in order to even keep it respectable. Hats off to the Burg defensive front nothing like rushing 3 guys and getting pressure and stopping everything up inside. We simply got away from what we do, 3 passes to start the game?? 4th and 1 yet again and just like at West we go I-formation and pitch it outside, terrible play call. If a team like Burg has that much speed going sideline to sideline doesn't work we simply made it easier for them. My favorite though running a jet sweep from the 6 inch line?? How stupid can you be but the guy never let's me down that's for sure, against Burg it's so in his head he's lost. Put Q at FB, not Harris and run straight ahead it's a simple concept.

I watched the live stream on Waverly's YouTube channel which doesn't have announcers so you can hear everything from the crowd near the camera and I heard complaints all night long and mostly from women. Some of them made me actually laugh out loud.Waverlyintheday wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 10:58 pm Burg a way better team than we are. They will not have any problems with West at all. Re: WK8 Waverly - Wheelersburg
Waverly struggled with the run again. But burg was able to eat up the middle with 5 in the box. Hard for Waverly to be consistent with their type of offense when that happens.

Yes you have to forgive the 3-4 ladies you heard screaming I know exactly who you're talking about. Love them to death and they are diehard fans who would do anything for the boys but they don't have a lot of self-awareness about the team and where they're at. Literally every play they think there's a penalty, don't hold the rest of us accountable for their behavior.Burg_Grad_77 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 8:13 amI watched the live stream on Waverly's YouTube channel which doesn't have announcers so you can hear everything from the crowd near the camera and I heard complaints all night long and mostly from women. My 71 year old mom is the same way. Never played a sport in her life but thinks she knows everything and not shy about letting others know it. Even had to tell my niece “never take advice from your grandmother when it comes to sports”.
All good though. Lots of passion…

Re: WK8 Waverly - Wheelersburg
Well I was able to watch some of this on youtube which is nice when you can pick and choose different games to get to see, haven't seen Burg play since the Ironton game. Man oh man didn't see this score coming out all, didn't think it would be that close but Burg was dominate right out the gate going on a 14 play drive and then Waverly going 3 and out to start basically sealed it defense got wore out early. Burg looks like to me has simply gotten better and better as the season has gone one and while I picked West to knock off Burg early in the year I was getting very concerned with West and wondering if they were truly capable. As it stands right now I don't think they are, West simply can't stop the pass if I were picking today I'd have to take Burg by 10 and if I was Ironton they are a team I really wouldn't want to see come playoff time because they are going to be a tough tough out.
