To me the POY of the player who most contributes to his team’s success. Take Hall away from Coal Grove and they are a totally different ball team. That was my take away from a Friday Night’s game, and to me, the conversation begins with him.
Contemplating all life choices and loyalties…

Chase hall should take this fairly easy the kid is a stud. Pendleton I would throw in as well. The kid does everything for Portsmouth offense and defense.

The only reason you would give it to someone besides Chase Hall would be team success, which wouldn’t be fair.

The same could be said about Tyler Duncan, take him out of that lineup and things are a lot different, plus he is the man running the show ,on offense anyway.
While I agree about Pendleton on Defense, Noah Livingston is having a monster year over there too

Re: 2022 OVC Player of the Year front runners
Lot of options from ovc could be hall from CG, carpenter from ironton, pendleton or duncan for Portsmouth, ermalovich solid season from south point, fellure for GA
Re: 2022 OVC Player of the Year front runners
Hall is very good. But I also think both Keyes and Felder at Ironton if they played CG schedule and had that many touches they would put up ridiculous numbers. I think Perkins is as dominate a player as their is in Southern Ohio right now. Ironton just has so many weapons. Literally 10 guys can beat you any night.
Re: 2022 OVC Player of the Year front runners
My guess is I don’t think the other ovc coaches will vote for an Ironton player for conference player of the year when it comes to a transfer player. But I wouldn’t go with those guys anyway. The guy I would vote for Ironton is number 32. He’s tough.
But it should be hall. He’s the overall best player in scioto and Lawrence county.

I think Hall is a very good player. But I think both Ironton backs have same #s if they played that schedule and that many Carries. Perkins is averaging 23.3 yards per catch. That’s very strong. Carpenter has thrown for a lot of yards and only thrown 1-2 INT on year. The LB crew is very good. #32 Barnes and #2 Carter. The OL/DL is anchored by one of the best in region in #64 Patterson. He’s as dominate as any player in region for his position.
Re: 2022 OVC Player of the Year front runners
If it's not Chase Hall then that would be some highway robbery. 1700 yards and 30 tds with 2 games left to go. Saying the Ironton backs would have the same #'s what a load of crap can't you just give a compliment without having to add, "yeah he's great but an Ironton player can do that" jeez. Facts are you play the same freakin schedule, on a way better team. Johnson Central a powerhouse rushed 58 times for 317 yards averaging 5.4 against Ironton, Chase Hall went for 154 on 24 carries for 6.4 yards a carry so on a team for less superior than JC, Hall averaged more yards per carry and everyone knows he's the guy getting the ball, JC has several options. Hall would be my 1st pick in a run away, then followed by Duncan and Carpenter
Re: 2022 OVC Player of the Year front runners
I wasn’t downing the kid at all. I think he’s a great player. He broke a 65 yard run on like 2nd play of game and then from there on rushed 25 times for 98 yards. He had a couple other 15-20 yard runs in 1st Qtr. I do think that’s the first defense he’s played this year though from looking at the scores and the schedule. CG non conference schedule didn’t have the best of teams on Defense. Majority of the OVC teams are giving up lots of points against each other as well. I do think the two backs at Ironton are very talented. Felder and Keyes are getting the ball less than 10 times a game in OVC play but avg. 10+ yds per att. As for stats. I do see how Hall should be the favorite as he’s had a great year and does a lot for his team. I had a guy tell me this weekend the Carter for Ironton has caused 8 fumbles on the season. Defensive POTY would have to go to him or #32 Lincoln Barnes. They are a wrecking crew.greygoose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 11:30 pm If it's not Chase Hall then that would be some highway robbery. 1700 yards and 30 tds with 2 games left to go. Re: 2022 OVC Player of the Year front runners
He faced the best defense that he will face all year, every one knew who was getting the ball and ran for a 154. Ive seen him on the track and he's a legit D1 sized kid. If he was on Ironton's team right now, I'd put Ironton in the state finals. That's how good I think he is. If he does play in college, that college will get a steal. He's the real deal.XandOs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 7:25 amI wasn’t downing the kid at all. I think he’s a great player. Re: 2022 OVC Player of the Year front runners
Oh I don't think you were downing him at all, it's just sometimes it's ok to give a guy a compliment without adding anything Ironton related to it. Like talking about the backs and all of that was just a pointless addition to it and it come across like minimizing what he's done. Just like talking about the 65 yard run and saying he only had 25 rushes for 98 yards after. How impressive was that given the fact with all those D1 guys on defense Ironton couldn't catch him?? I mean Carpenter has done great but just think what a kid like Novak from Western Brown could do on that team with those WRs. I mean I've even got Carpenter as my #3 guy and said nothing about all the guys he has around him to make it so much easier to play the position. That's what I'm getting at, just compliment the kid and move on don't throw in well but.....our guys could do that also.XandOs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 7:25 amI wasn’t downing the kid at all. Chase Hall hands down kid probably would win OVC, SOC, TVC, FAC player of the year with what he's doing. I mean the kid is literally carrying this Coal Grove team
Re: 2022 OVC Player of the Year front runners
Hall with no questions,he is the best player in the OVC.
Re: 2022 OVC Player of the Year front runners
Hall by a landslide, IMO. Another perspective is how many of the other guys would withstand carrying the ball nearly 30 times per game against a defense dedicated to stopping one guy. Averaging 10 yards a carry on 10 carries per game surrounded by other weapons is vastly different than toting that ball 30 times per game while being the sole focal point of every defense. Stamina, endurance, determination and toughness are traits that will serve Chase well after his playing days. He plays a huge role in their defensive scheme also. Nothing against any other players but this year it’s Hall then everyone else.
