Honestly right on par with what both teams have been doing this season score wise. Both teams rely on their defense heavily and can't afford to get in a track meet. Thought it was a good defensive battle overall and that Stadelman 3 was huge with a couple minutes left in the game. He's a very streaky shooter but he's not afraid to let it fly.mhs95_06 wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 10:08 pmBelow capabilities! Not at all unusual for this rivalry, boys or girls.

Saw the Wellston and Vinton County game on BMG Media. That was like watching a heavyweight fight with haymakers being thrown at the end of the fourth and the OT’s. That was a great game and you hate to see either team lose such a competitive game. Ervin is really good. Vinton County has some nice guards who shoot the ball well. When’s the last time Wellston beat VC in Basketball before last night?

VC is 38-3 in the last 41 meetings against wellston. All three losses suck equally

Great win for the Pirates.Tigernation2021 wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 9:59 pmHats off to burg they just kept pulling away little by little they done a nice job. I will say though very happy with the amount of effort our guys showed from start to finish they were very scrappy tonight. Wheelersburg coach was getting upset with his players in the little things they were giving up but he also coached from start to finish. Hate the outcome but it was going to be rough but man the effort was there from our boys.

Waverly is pretty good on the defensive side of the ball. But they are thin on that bench and need some scoring. The only thing I have to ask Waverly fans is the rotation of players seem odd to me from coach. In and out a lot. Im sure he’s trying to save energy but I feel it kills offensive flow that they desperately need.Burg_Grad_77 wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 10:14 amGreat win for the Pirates.Tigernation2021 wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 9:59 pmHats off to burg they just kept pulling away little by little they done a nice job. Yes, that trey was a dagger to take the lead to 5 after the Tigers had just failed to tie it back up by missing 2 FTs. Looking at the box score in the paper, the story was the Tigers 35-22 advantage in rebounds was not enough to off-set the Warriors advantages of 80% to 58% on FTs and more importantly 19-7 on turnovers.Whs95fan wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 10:50 pmHonestly right on par with what both teams have been doing this season score wise. Both teams played well below capabilities. I'm not sure either team will lose many games the rest of the season but tonight, just not a well-played game.
Over the years the Tigers have succumbed many times to the Warren defense due to turnovers. Sometimes they give it up early, sometimes all thru the game, and sometimes they have limited the the TOs very nicely and give it up in the last 4 minutes. Warren's pressure defense over the years has been stellar.
Re: Friday,1/13/23 games and scores
Quick Summary in Perspective: Marietta's program has experienced at least 11 losses for 11 years in a row (averaging 14 losses per season). This year 7-4 record with just 4 home games so far with losses to opponents with a combined record of 37-11 (including versus the No. 3 and No. 4 teams in West Virginia). Certainly a different Tiger team. If they play to potential and consistently, this could yet be one of the best seasons in 20 or more years. We'll see, not totally convinced it's likely, but they've got a shot at finishing with an impressive record and a fair tourney run.mhs95_06 wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 1:00 pmYes, that trey was a dagger to take the lead to 5 after the Tigers had just failed to tie it back up by missing 2 FTs. Been that way all season with the rotation been a lot of confusion in the stands about it. We’ve had guys make shots or make a play and they come out right after. I’ve heard some kids can’t go hard but for x amount of minutes which you would think wouldn’t be the case now. Scoring yeah it’s tough. Main senior out, PG scores well our other higher scorer early on got hurt with high ankle sprain so it’s tough for sure but we’re fighting. Very young team with this season as being their only varsity experience.wobycat wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 11:37 amWaverly is pretty good on the defensive side of the ball.
