urban didnt make that decision Burrow did. he left. Haskins was a hell of a QB and only lost 1 game I believe as a starter, who knows what he would have done if he had stayed for 2 yrs. Burrow was a very avg QB his first yr at LSU and Haskins was one of the better qbs in college football that same yr
How in the world did tOSU let Burrows go?

I think the only thing that matters is now we can pretend to be lifetime Bengals and Burrows fans and get on social media and trash talk and say Who Dey and pizz everyone off. And if they lose we can blame the NFL and say the refs cheated just like we did last year. It’s a great time to pretend to be a Bengals fan isn’t it.
Don’t hate us just because you ain’t us.

Re: How in the world did tOSU let Burrows go?
People forget joe wasn’t highly recruited. His junior yr he had 1 offer from Ohio U where his dad coached. The burrow you see today isn’t the burrow Ohio state had

That may be but the current Burrows and the current Bengals are winning and probably going to the Super Bowl again so it’s our right to pretend to be lifetime fans and say Who Dey and “better send those refunds out” and countless other smart azz comments that pizz people off. And you have to know if they lose all of us fake fans are going to raise three kinds of he11 and blame the refs just like we did last year. Who Dey.

Re: How in the world did tOSU let Burrows go?
Fbnut is spot on in his assessment of Joe Burrow’s time as a Buckeye. To say Urban Meyer not starting him over Haskins is one of the worst decisions in the history of the sport is simply just ridiculous. Urban Meyer won a ton of games at Florida and OSU with a ‘running’ quarterback. Tim Tebow, Chris Leak, Braxton Miller, JT Barrett and ultimately the recruitment of Justin Fields. Yes, Cardale Jones started the games in the football playoff when we won the 2014 national championship but we’d not have been anywhere near that successful had JT Barrett been injured at the beginning of the season. That was Meyer’s system. Something that Joe Burrow was not at that time and he still isn’t. Numbers don’t lie. Yes, Joe Burrow had an exceptional second year at OSU as well as in his short career with Bengals so far. But he simply wasn’t ready for the game day position while still at OSU. His first season at LSU was Burrow’s training ground. It just so happened that the Buckeye depth start at the QB position was too deep. As far as the other comments on being Bengal fans, I too will always root for Joe Burrow because he’s a SE Ohio boy. Just like we are. Doesn’t make me jumping on the bandwagon, just rooting for the great player who’s from our part of the state. Being a Bengals fan only doesn’t allow you to be the sole fan base as compared to others hoping for Joe Burrow to be successful as well. You should want as many people pushing for Joe as is humanly possible. Period.

Re: How in the world did tOSU let Burrows go?
2018:
Joe Burrow had Chase, Marshall, and Jefferson to throw to.
He completed 57.8-percent of his passes for 5,671 yards, 16 TDs, and 6 INTs.
Dwayne Haskins had Terry McLaurin, Bin Victor, Austin Mack, and Johnny Dixon to throw to.
He completed 70-percent of his passes for 4,831 yards, 50 TDs, and 8 INTs.
Ohio State would have misused Joe by running all of Urban's QB run and read-option stuff. The best thing for Joe was to get away from Urban. The best thing for Ohio State was to have a QB who couldn't run so they would have to get rid of Urban's "crutch" of going with QB run when things got tough.
It worked out best for everyone. If Joe has a better statistical season as a Buckeye in 2018 he probably goes to the NFL. Joe was projected as a mid-round pick after the 2018 season at LSU and Dwayne was a first rounder. So if Joe is a first rounder after 2018 he leaves.
And the 2018 OSU team wasn't winning a national title with ANYONE at QB.

It may surprise a lot of people on here, but Urban Meyer did not give a crap about developing a player for the NFL. He had 1 thing in mind and that was to win at the Collegiate Level, which he did very well. If that meant having a QB that ran , then that is what he used. Shocker I know. But the Guy won 3 National championships and for Him that is and was all that mattered.loganlocos wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 11:32 am2018:

Exactly right. Great numbers that substantiate the point. The other thing to remember is we didn’t recruit the caliber of QB’s we’ve seen play for the Buckeyes prior to Urban Meyer being hired as our head coach. Before him, our starting QB’s were guys like Bellisari, Boeckman, Pryor, Bauserman. The lone exceptions were Krenzel and Troy Smith. But the Buckeyes won under Krenzel because of Clarett, special teams and a stud defense. I believe Urban also recruited a high quality coach named Ryan Day to join his staff as well. Joe Burrow would not even be listed as the same caliber as Bellisari and that group during his time at OSU. Couldn’t crack the starting lineup. Not a bad decision by the coach by any means. The player just wasn’t that skilled at that specific time.

The Bengals really have something special going for them. Should be fun to watch for the next decade. The Buckeyes should have tailored their offense to them but I dont think thats how their coaching staff at the time would roll.
