Wow who would have thought?
How do you have athletes good enough to win a league title in basketball and not even have a football team?
The SHL has operated that way for years. Perhaps not having football is why those teams always end up at the Convo and are tough to beat.OldskoolWarrior wrote: Thu Feb 02, 2023 3:19 pmHow do you have athletes good enough to win a league title in basketball and not even have a football team?
Seems a growing trend for basketball minded AD’s at schools with football programs is to hire the worst football coach they can possibly find. Their thinking seems to be that this will help the basketball program become dominant.93Bulldog wrote: Fri Feb 03, 2023 7:12 amThe SHL has operated that way for years. Well that certainly worked to perfection at FH. Dude ran the program as far into the ground as possible. So far under that we couldn’t do a two on two drill because we couldn’t get four players to show up at the same time. But boy look what it’s done for the basketball programgreyghost wrote: Fri Feb 03, 2023 11:52 amSeems a growing trend for basketball minded AD’s at schools with football programs is to hire the worst football coach they can possibly find. Bingo. So the mindset of these basketball first AD’s seems to be when the numbers are like that hire the worst coach you can find and let him finish it off. Seems to be working at Fed Hocking. We’ll see if it works at Belpre soon enough.93Bulldog wrote: Fri Feb 03, 2023 1:59 pm One varsity football coach is not going to change everything and suddenly cause kids to play football grades 3rd through 12th. If kids don't want to play, you can't make them. It's a growing trend, unfortunately, if you pay attention to what's happening at small schools all across southeastern Ohio - if not the state. I was at a Belpre game this year and saw THREE reserves on the sidelines. That means they had 14 players. That is not sustainable, you can't play with 14, 15, even 16 kids year in and year out.
Meigs is not a small D7 school.JBsezBELIEVE wrote: Fri Feb 03, 2023 2:12 pm I beg to differ with you. All they need is a good guy to come in and teach a few life lessons and get the boys to BELIEVE. D1 knows how it works thats why we see the resurgence of football at Meigs. He syas it was a total joke before he took over.
