Jr. High Boys Basketball 2022-2023
It's about that time. How are the Jr. High teams from our area looking this year? Valley 8th grade is coming off a championship year last year. I believe they lost 1 game to burg in 7th grade. Unless other schools have gotten better, Valley and Burg will be the top 2 again. West probably 3rd best team now that Northwest is without there big man because of his injury.
Not sure about the 7th grade teams. I think Valley 7th grade will probably be middle of the pack. They have a few decent players but they are not deep. Not sure on anyone else.
Anyone else have any info on our local jr. high teams.

FAC:
Miami Trace 8th grade will be very very good. They won the FAC last year and have 8-9 kids that can play. They will be one of the top teams in SEO. Jackson will have a very solid 8th grade team as well. Hillsboro got a couple move ins and will be solid as well at the 8th grade level. Chilli, WCH, and McClain will be pretty bad at the 8th grade level.
7th Grade I believe the league will be very competitive and I could see several different teams being FAC champs.

Waverly is very good with the addition of the 7th grade guard to their 8th grade squad.

With the 2nd half of the season beginning this evening, what is everyone's records?
Valley 8th is 8-0. It will be a tough ask of them to finish undefeated due to injuries, but I think they can do it. One of there main players is out for the season with a torn ACL and 2 other players that have started or who were first off the bench are out possibly until the end of the season with injuries.
Valley 7th is 7-1 with their only loss to Waverly. I haven't really seen the 7th grade play a ton, but knew before the season that they lost a few players who were main guys on their team in biddy ball to the transfer portal to Burg. A nice surprise to see them playing so well this season.

SOC Jr High Tournaments:
Below are the tournament seeds
8th Grade
1. Valley, 2. Burg, 3. West, 4. Northwest, 5. Webster, 6. Oak HIll, 7. Minford
This should be Valley's tournament to lose. Too much athleticism and length. However, on an off day, I could see Burg or even West pulling off an upset.
7th Grade
1. Waverly, 2. Valley, 3. Burg, 4. Webster, 5. West, 6. Oak Hill, 7. Minford, 8. Northwest
I could see this tournament being won by Waverly, Valley, or Burg. There is not that much difference between those 3 teams.
I'm hoping to take in all the games this next week. Should be a fun tournament to watch!
