SE District D3 combining for just 1 District Meet in 2023
SE District D3 combining for just 1 District Meet in 2023
Site undetermined…..top 4 each advance to regionals. A large # of SE D3 schools didn’t have 9 athletes compete at districts and it cost them 1/2 of their qualifying spots

This is not a big deal for some of the top athletes, but this stinks for the kids on the border. I get it, but it still stinks.

It was bound to happen, Covid may have saved it from a year or two earlier. The Northwest district lacked any depth while the Nelsonville district was solid. I think it’s the right thing to do. It will be very competitive at nearly every event and those that advance to the regionals will compete in the regionals.PVBearcat2012 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 9:09 am This is not a big deal for some of the top athletes, but this stinks for the kids on the border. Might be a silly number but teams need to have 9 kids compete at the district meet and do it for a couple years to maybe get those spots back.
I’ll guess 4 divisions within 5 years.
Re: SE District D3 combining for just 1 District Meet in 2023
The numbers last year at NW were way down.
I agree teams need to enter the 9 athletes to get it back to Two districts. It’s great to have as many SE district athletes at the regionals
Over 30 some teams make for a lot of prelims

Yeah, I did not know about the 9 kid things until this came out. Definitely something coaches need to be striving for before the next recount!Ironman92 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 8:11 pmIt was bound to happen, Covid may have saved it from a year or two earlier. I honestly wouldn't be surprised by 4 divisions within 5 years either.

They're voting for the dates but it is for sure at Oak Hill.
Re: SE District D3 combining for just 1 District Meet in 2023
How many district meets state wide have their finals on Saturdays and do those that do have more athletes that choose not to participate due to proms or other activities on Saturday making chances less of getting the required 9?
Re: SE District D3 combining for just 1 District Meet in 2023
Oak Hill is out. Looking for a new host site. Dates may change due to new site. Stay tuned.

How in the world can it take this long to find someone to host the meet?

Well this stinks. I thought it was a good location for it.
Re: SE District D3 combining for just 1 District Meet in 2023
A lot of factors must be considered as to the selection of a host site. Things such as availability of the facility, all-weather 8 lane track in above average condition, parking for both buses and spectators, seating capacity, restroom facilites, ability to provide enough event workers, condition of the facilities and event venues, management team, availability of officials, availablity of fully automatic timing, physical locaton and ease of access to the site, etc. It's even more critical this year given the fact there are 33 boys teams and 32 girls teams all competing in one district at one site. Last year, these teams were divided among two different district sites. Many schools simply don't want to host for one of the above reasons or some other reason (i.e. graduation, senior awards, no lights, etc.)

No pole vault Oak Hill. The d3 regional is at Heath High School near Newark.

Nelson/York will do a great job. With their Rocky Brands Meet it show they are able to handle a lot of teams. NY has always been a great host for track.
