2023 Ironton Tigers
Re: 2023 Ironton Tigers
With the move ins they’ve had and what they had returning, I genuinely believe this is the best overall team Pendleton has had during his tenure. Athletes all over the field and not a single position isn’t loaded and deep.
If Pendleton doesn’t get over the hump and win the state with this group then I will be surprised.

Losing a 3 year starting QB, a 6’3” D1 WR, 2 of the best LB to play at Ironton in years, and the entire secondary does not translate to having the “best overall team Pendleton has had”. This team will certainly be behind the 2022 team as well as the 2019 team. That said, they should be a very successful group.

I know what they lost… I also know what returns, and what they had move in.GoBigI wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 12:29 pmbbjunky81 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 11:43 am With the move ins they’ve had and what they had returning, I genuinely believe this is the best overall team Pendleton has had during his tenure. I stand by what I said. I believe this is the best OVERALL team Pendleton has had. Zero weaknesses and depth at every position.

Re: 2023 Ironton Tigers
Given they lost 4 D1 scholarship players, the most productive QB in school history, a handful more that will play next level (Barnes, Felder, Young) an a three year starter on both sides of the ball (Wilson), it’s hard to say that two move ins make up for all that.
The 2023 team could be really good, and certainly won’t lack for depth. But they are a long way from eclipsing the 2022 team just yet.

Ironton JV will play the Olentangy Braves JV team this coming season. What a great pickup for the JV team.

Re: 2023 Ironton Tigers
Are the rumors true that Ironton is trying to get Kirtland and/or Marion Local on the schedule? Or is Ironton still scared to play those teams?

Re: 2023 Ironton Tigers
I don't think they are afraid of them but they would most likely lose only because seo teams don't compete very well outside of seo.
Re: 2023 Ironton Tigers
I would say the top 3 teams in southern Ohio don’t fear anyone. Ironton, Burg and Jackson. Irontons JV schedule has a tougher schedule than 90% of the teams in the area. The top 16 teams make the playoffs now and having 3-4 regular season losses don’t hurt you.

Well that’s good. So we can expect to see some MAC teams and Kirtland on the schedules of those “3 top teams” then?Bfan99 wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 6:06 pm

Re: 2023 Ironton Tigers
Kirtland and the MAC schools are 3-4hrs away how does that make sense? It takes both teams to agree to play. Maybe the 3 teams should try and schedule IMG academy in Florida next year.Gray Cat wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 6:42 pmWell that’s good.
