Name: Max Lyall
School: Tri-Valley
Positions played: Quarterback
Class: 2025
How long have you played football, and what keeps you playing?
I’ve played football for 7 years, what keeps me going is just wanting to be great and make a name for myself.
What is the best part of playing high school football?
Walking out of the locker room with your buddies and seeing the stadium packed, there’s no better feeling.
What did you learn about yourself during the 2022 season that you can use this year to be an even better player?
I didn’t understand reads and defenses, I have learned a lot this offseason.
What is the toughest part of playing quarterback?
Quarterback is the toughest position in all of sports, you have to know what every person on every play is doing, you have to read defenses, and make a good throw. I’d say reading defenses.
Of all the road games you have played, which stadium is the toughest to play at, and why?
I’d say Licking Heights, they have a grass field and it’s just a hard field to play on.
Who is the best player you have ever faced, along with what made him so good and the team he played for?
I’d say Jacob Winters, from Jackson. He is a big dude, with a cannon and is a running threat. Tough dude to play against.
What advice would you give to that first-year starter right before he took the field for the first time at the varsity level?
Just play, don’t think too much. You are out there for a reason.
What are you looking forward to the most this season?
I’m looking forward to competing. We have a big game week 1, they embarrassed us last year and that has stayed in my mind all off-season.
Where do you think the state finals should be played?
Football Hall Of Fame
What are your thoughts on 16 teams from each region making the playoffs?
It gives teams chances to make runs and makes it more competitive.
What was the biggest shock as far as the 2022 season goes?
I did not think I personally would have the season I had. Only up from here.
What is your favorite movie?
Creed 2
Do you play any other sports at Tri-Valley?
I play basketball.
What toppings go on your perfect pizza?
Pepperoni, banana peppers, ham, sausage.

Re: 2023 Player spotlight/Interview with Max Lyall from Tri-Valley
Being that Max was only a Sophomore this past season, I'm sure that his mind felt as if it was running 100 miles an hour at times this past season. No one ever said that the QB position was an easy position to master. I would have to agree with Max about Jacob Winters from Jackson High School possibly being one of the best players that he played against this past season. Good interview.
