And you burgers are so arrogant and delusional. You've had virtually countless kids from surrounding districts play for you. Don't give the stupid argument about moving in younger or whatever. They have not been burg kids from burg families.
"Mediocre at best" with all that Ironton talent ?? When's the last time burg had any D1 talent? Ironton simply produces more home-grown football talent than burg - and probably always will. We'd be more than fine without the transfers - although, obviously, they help.
This year... The quality burg staff and typical burg effort will make the game competitive for a while. I think Ironton slowly pulls away.
Ironton just got clocked by South Range, a team that is not a traditional power. So how can you criticize Burg for winning state by beating a team that hasn’t been a traditional power?

As for talent, Ironton produces more and recruits more. No question about that. Hence why I say “doing less with more since 1989”.

You don’t see the difference of a kid that went to Burg from k-12 and developed by Burg coaches, versus Ironton recruiting kids in high school that are known to be really good football players? 🤦‍♂️

And many are Burg kids from Burg families. Some even have a grandfather for which the stadium was named!

Ironton produces better student atheletes PERIOD.

Far as football goes. Burg had a few good years during transition at Ironton.

Besides that = yawn.

Only been out their region 3 times in over 2 decades.
This past season lost to EVERY regional RANKED contender on their schedule - Lost to Jackson - lost their conference AND then got SPANKED by Prep again. Staff is not getting any younger. And aside from a state title Ironton has simply produced more consistently on and off the field HISTORICALLY as well as PRESENTLY.

lil burg got to play FILL IN while Ironton was down per transition - for this area. Was just a bonus that scioto county Jan Brady had same color dress to wear. 😂

Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow, ...Burg = #lilsis💅💯
1989…

And since you brought up academics by referring to “student”, well that’s not even a contest. Ironton might be tied with Burg in football state titles, but Ironton is terrible academically.

Wasn’t always the case, but just like football, another area they have dropped off. Maybe they can start recruiting some scholars to up their academic performance as well. 😂

lil burg has made it past the region 3 times in TWO AND A HALF DECADES. #lilsis💅 needs to worry about why they are underperforming instead of worrying about when IRONTON is gonna pass them in state titles just like they have LAPPED them in everything else. 😂

• head to head overall historically and presently lil burg falls short.
• coaching staff is getting older and is struggling to adapt.
• Ironton develops more & better talent.
• Ironton ATTRACTS more & better talent
• Ironton has produced more consistently on a year by year basis.
• lil burg LOST to every single RANKED regional opponent they played on their regular season schedule last season, THEN as soon as they drew a RANKED regional opponent in the playoffs they folded like a LAWN CHAIR. 👈😂
• Ironton BEAT lil burg THEN BEAT EVERY OTHER TEAM WHO BEAT lil burg. 👈😂😂
• Ironton has made it to Canton more times in the last 5 seasons as lil burg has their entire pick me girl existence as a program! 😂
• Ironton produces more D1 recruits and recruits overall at all levels EVERY SINGLE YEAR.
• ironton has more marquee games and overall attracts WAY more attention locally, state wide, etc.
• The young ambitous Ironton staff is simply OUTWORKING and OUTPERFORMING the much older burg staff on and off the field. lil burg staff seems to be losing a step. Comes with age.

Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. Burg is #lilsis💅

.........and you have nothing to show for having all that talent the last 4 years. NADA!!! ZERO!!!

Guarantee Burg's staff would have won at least two state titles with all the talent ironton had. Ironton coaching staff is overrated and cannot win the big game with all that D1 talent you speak of.

Pathetic to say the least!!!

1989!!!

What's that Journey song, "Don't Stop Believin'" One day you might actually get a coach that can hang with the big boys and not lose to that powerhouse Canfield South team!!! :o :o :o :o

Name me one of those so called D1 players you produced over the last 5 years and are actually getting significant playing time at whatever D1 school they are at.

Yeah, I said it mediocre at best. You take away Perkins, Keyes and Felder off last years team, where is your offense coming from? You take off the 5-6 kids you averaged bringing in since pendleton got there, who replaces those guys!!! No one! pendleton proved he couldn't win with what he had there in his first year so he had to go out and start building teams. Still hasn't got him jack poop though. He still can't beat those so called powerhouse teams.

If mediocre means winning a state title this century, then yes, Burg is mediocre. Now what does that make Ironton since they haven’t lifted the trophy since 1989?

Btw, did you ever find the VHS copy of that Ironton title game?

Mediocre means: have only made it out of your region 3 times in two and a half decades. Got beat by every ranked regional opponent you played last season. Having a fan base that only gets to watch their programs rival develop. Being split roasted by Ironton & Prep AGAIN this upcoming season. 👈 lmao

But not winning a state title in over 30 years is excellence? Think you have your definitions crossed.

You do realize that the OHSAA gives out state title trophies? I know it’s been a while for Ironton, so maybe you have forgotten.

Although I’m still not convinced you were even alive then, so sadly you have never seen Ironton win a state football championship except for the VHS tape of ‘89.

My thoughts from reading these threads are I’m not sure either coaching staff is that great.

I don’t know how anyone can watch Ironton play and think that they are well coached. They do less with more than anyone. Having the most talented team and consistently laying eggs on the state level doesn’t speak to good coaching. They still bring in bunches of players hoping to get to the next level. Players that were developed by other teams who gave them the chance to play prominent roles as Freshmen and Sophomores, and then claim that they were developed in Ironton. Several players have went to the next level and basically none have panned out. Honestly it seems a lot of the Luster has worn off locally.

Wheelersburg is trending down. They don’t constantly win their own conference anymore and haven’t been a threat on the State Level for 5 seasons. Look no further than handing jobs to Sophomores before they’ve accomplished anything on the High School level and it’s easy to see which way the program is going.
