August 18, 2023 Waverly 26 - 27 Miami Trace

Post by Tigernation2021 »

Thoughts? Miami Trace came out hard and fast to start last years game in jumping out to a 20-0 lead only to find themselves on the short end of the stick when it was all said and done. I'm sure that is going to stick into the minds of those returning players and Miami Trace could be out for some revenge.

If memory serves me correctly MT has a qb who has the ability to get it done, and the WR Guess is a solid weapon for them. I haven’t had any worry in the Tiger offense in the past few years but this is the one where I do same for the defense. We were on a track of the defense steadily improving but as of now it seems to have a ways to go. Hopefully we can come out strong and begin 1-0

Could end up being one of the higher scores of week 1:
Waverly--40
MT--34

MT is really thin this season especially at OL.

Its all going to depend if the line can handle playing both ways all night long....

QB1 Robinette has the tools and some weapons, but can he stay protected?

That could be tough especially early in the season against our fast paced offense, if it gets going early on.

They better be conditioned.

Unfortunately, youth and a thin roster is not a good sign for things to come.

I'm hearing of some changes for Waverly since the Portsmouth scrimmage.

As mentioned by others, conditioning may be a factor as Waverly is always very well conditioned, possibly a factor last year in this week 1 matchup.

Confident in our staff to make the right changes and I think now that we’re playing games and not scrimmages we don’t have to hold anything back

I watched the Ironton/Waverly scrimmage and it wasn’t that lopsided as some reported on here. Waverly dropped a lot of passes and had some missed tackles but fundamentally they were sound. They will surprise some people. And may end up second in SOC

Gonna be a long season if we can’t stop the run and run the ball ourselves
