Marietta by a good bit. Wish we'd play them sometime. Or Warren.

Not ridiculous at all to think Warren could have possibly run the table and been TVC champs last season. Heck, it took a fourth quarter comeback by 3rd place Meigs just to squeak by one of the worst teams Marietta has had in a while. It is interesting to think about. The perceptions and expectations of both programs coming into this season would be completely different competing in the TVC.beg003 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 11:55 pmWe weren’t great last year and beat the runner up worse than the league champion. Granted, the Ohio is down, but it’s still indicative of where we’d be more often than not. Agree about the Athens teams still being good after Burrow. They had a very solid 3-4 year run after he graduated.pioneer19 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 11:47 pmAthens had some solid seasons even after the Burrow years. I figured the winning would be sustainable, at least at the conference level, with them playing in the TVC, but these last couple years have been rough to say the least. Since you brought it up, Marietta and Warren would both be middle of the pack, at worst, in the TVC most years.boss8 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 10:38 pm
Athens’ success with Burrow & friends colors what is a pretty poor football program. I’m still shocked they were never able to capitalize on that success to build a good program, especially considering the competition they play. If Warren and Marietta were in the TVC, both would beat Athens consistently IMO

Would like to see Gallia back on the schedule in the future, as well. Miss the old SEOAL days.MisterGalliaGuy2016 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 2:21 am Marietta by a good bit. Wish we'd play them sometime. Or Warren.

You’d be looking at likely 7 or 8 win seasons for both teams, possibly more depending on the non-conference schedule. Nelsonville and VC would be the only teams who would legitimately challenge either team.pioneer19 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 9:34 amNot ridiculous at all to think Warren could have possibly run the table and been TVC champs last season. Marietta will win big--- TVC Ohio is down to 2 teams already- Nelsonville and Vinton County-- all others are just watching...

Don’t forget Trimble. If they win this week they are essentially TVC Ohio champions since they already beat Nelsonville.

Agreed. SEOAL went down with a whimper. Was a great conference with a lot of hard fought games. Athens leaving was the beginning of the end. Not to place the blame on them or anything.pioneer19 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 9:39 amWould like to see Gallia back on the schedule in the future, as well. If the SEOAL had stayed together just think what the Borrow years would have been like.

Probably Athens going unbeaten during his last two years. GA was lucky to get Athens during week one of his sophomore season.
