At some point, you gotta just take a knee or tell your backs to fall forward and kill clock. Blowouts like that only wind up with kids getting hurt and for what? Padding stats and running up scores?

With the Huntington game, that was halftime. They scored 58 points in 56 seconds in the first half. That has to be a national high school record.

The South Charleston head coach said that Billy Seals (Huntington head coach) didn't run the score up. He said he coaches with class. So that should end that debate right there.

As for Nitro, what they did was dirty. They were still running no-huddle late in the game so their starting QB could break J.R. House's school record for passing yards or passing touchdowns in a game. That was extremely out of line. If you're scoring 84 points running the football with your backups, you can't do anything about that, as you still have to play hard and get those kids reps to get better while not risking injury. I got no problem with a team scoring 84 points if that's the case. However, going no-huddle exclusively nearly the entire game is just low when you're up that much. You're winning 84-6. What's the point?

I don't know enough about the Hurricane situation to have an opinion one way or the other. I know Capital put it on Nitro 91-14 back in 2017, but that was under a different head coach and staff.
