September 8, 2023 Meigs 0 - 54 Vinton County
Re: Week 4: Vinton County @ Meigs
VC should be fine in this one. Two weeks ago I would have said it would be a blow out. But Meigs showed they can score last week so it could be fairly close. They can’t stop VC though so the Vikings will get the win.

No there isn’t. That’s like most things people see and share on Facebook. It’s fake.

There is a stream from a local from Meigs on Facebook. The OHSAA streams you see on Facebook are 100% fake.

32-0 vc with the running clock to start the second half! Meigs D1 offense is non existent tonight
You can’t spell TVC without VC

WOW! Didn't see that large of a margin this game. i was certainly wrong.VetteMan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 3:22 pmAgree. I'm still a little confused at the great start that Meigs had against Coal Grove. No doubt Meigs probably feels as if they let one get away last week-end. Meigs at home will always give a great effort. Hope both teams have an injury free game.Union Local Kid wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 10:15 am I feel like if VC brings their "A" game, then it'll be all VC. But, this could be one of those trap games if they don't take Meigs seriously. Coal Grove almost found that out the hard way.

The Meigs faithful can be thankful that they have River Valley on their schedule...two very woeful programs currently.....

Just can’t believe Meigs kids don’t listen more carefully to the coach. It’s not too late boys. Lets rally around T and get this thing going.

Nor did I! Safe to say my thoughts were way off. At this rate, I think the only group standing in the way of VC's first TVC title this millennium is Nelsonville. It's probably too early to mutter such words, but I'm not seeing too many stand in their way of such a feat.VetteMan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 11:26 pmWOW! Reports form Pomero are that the current coaching staff thought that was a JV game and told the varsity boys to take the night off. Good thing for McArthur. Otherwise they get curb stomped.

Agreed that the Meigs early schedule has been pretty stout but with the exception of the CG game it's the manner of the losses that they aren't really even competitive and have been shutout in three of them.
Granted that Meigs has never been a perennial state contender by any stretch but you could usually count on them to play defense and want to pound the rock offensively and compete hard. Seems ever since the long time coach stepped down several years ago the term defense was taken off the playboard and they wanted to try to outscore their opponents which hasn't turned out so well.
Even more concerning should be the state of their Jr hi program. With the exception of a Covid year this is the first year that I can remember them not being able to field a 7th and a 8th grade teams so they had to combine them.
Not condemning anyone at all because I'm sure that the coaches and players are all working as hard as they can but there comes a time where any organization needs to regroup and look at the direction and results and see if and what changes may be needed to improve.

VC with 195 rushing yards to Meigs -4.
VC with 166 passing yards to Meigs 88.
Totals VC 361 yards to Meigs 84.
The coal grove first half was a bit of an anomaly but the reason Meigs had success in the first half against them was due to 5 starters having to sit out the first half for the Hornets. Meigs needs to find a running game. Cleeland is a good passer and is very shifty in space but he can’t do it alone. Good luck to Meigs the rest of the way.
