Division 4 Region 16

Post by smurray »

The top 17 have a winning record, everybody else is 4-4 or worse. I'd say Massie and Wyoming are the cream of the crop in region 16.
Looking locally, will we see a Waverly/Unioto rematch? At 7-3 Waverly may move into the top 8 and host a game. at 6-4 the Tigers will end up somewhere in the 10-12 spot.

1 8-0 Clarksville Clinton-Massie
2 8-0 Cincinnati Wyoming
3 6-2 Cincinnati Taft
4t 7-1 Springfield Shawnee
4t 7-1 Chillicothe Unioto
6 5-3 Kettering Archbishop Alter
7 6-2 Cincinnati Indian Hill
8 4-4 Cincinnati Archbishop McNicholas
9 5-3 Waverly
10 4-4 Washington Court House
11 6-2 Eaton
12 5-3 St Bernard Roger Bacon
13 6-2 Urbana
14 4-4 Cleves Taylor
15 4-3 Dayton Dunbar
16 5-3 Reading
17 5-3 Greenfield McClain

I think Clinton-Massie is the favorite to come out of this region Wyoming and Taft would be my next 2 picks to come out of the region. Unioto has quite a bit of points to gain if, and I believe they do, get a win against PV this week and they'll gain some when PV and ZT face off in week 10. Unioto will stay in the top 8 and should bypass Shawnee by the time it's all said and done. Looking at the schedules Alter could be the team to pass Unioto as they've got Bishop Fenwich and Chaminade left to play but they've got to win both games to pull that out. Look for Unioto to finish up at 4 and Waverly should get a win against NW this week but Mt. Healthy is no joke I don't think I see that happening, which will land Waverly in that 9-12 spot. Matchups are key for both teams as the top 3 in that region are legit. Several teams in and around Waverly play tough games and are going to take some losses. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds but right now my money would be on CCM to come out of this region.

Massie has been playing with a chip on their shoulder this season after a horrible season by their standards last year. They’ve played a challenging non conference schedule. Most of their skill position players are only sophomores and juniors too. Not to mention a freshmen went for over 100 yards and 2 touchdowns vs Western Brown starters. They are loaded for the next couple seasons. Wyoming is well coached and have so much postseason experience/success. Top 2 for sure and I’d be surprised if anyone else takes the region.

McNicholas isn’t a bad team either, played Burg very close and almost won. Shawnee has played a soft schedule

According to Fantastic 50 Twitter, based on projected playoff points cutoffs, this region is the 3rd toughest to earn a playoff berth (10.01) in the state.

Wouldn’t doubt it, Wyoming, Clint-Massie are two great programs in D IV

That’s big for Unioto

And Waverly who beat Unioto drops to 10.. Unlikely we'll see a rematch but not out of the realm of possibility.

Going to be interesting come the end of next week. Massie clinched the 1 seed already. Unioto should keep the 2 after a win next week. It is hard to gauge Taft, Wyoming and Indian Hill imo. IH beat Wyoming last night but has a loss to #12 Roger Bacon. Alter and McNick are usually well prepared for playoffs. Waverly could surprise people. After last night my mind is telling me Massie should win this region no doubt, but playoff football you never truly know what can happen.

Looks like Waverly and Unioto in round 2 is a possibility…… at least bracket wise

It keeps jumping around.
WCH lost so Waverly will be 9 playing at Eaton.
Win that then go to Massie.

Once the northwest win gets added we move up very slightly. I’m in the process of seeing how mcnichs points will move. Hopefully JOE beats me

McNick almost beating Badin tonight is very interesting…could be a very very dangerous matchup. If the standings were as of right this moment McNick vs Wyoming in that first round.

Yeah couldn’t imagine RB making a huge jump with their win tonight. Norwood pretty bad.

It should put mcnick ahead of us. Who would you rather see? Shawnee or Eaton.

Looks like first round matchups will be
1 massie vs 16 Dunbar
8 Eaton vs 9 Waverly
4 Alter vs 13 Roger Bacon
5 Indian Hill vs 12 Reading
2 Unioto vs 15 Urbana
7 Shawnee vs 10 McNick
3 Taft vs 14 McClain
6 Wyoming vs 11 Washington Court House

Last year this region saw 3 “upsets” in the first round with the 13, 10 and 14 seeds win.

Mcnick I would say is the only lower seeded team I can see getting a major “upset”
