Totally agree with you! When a team that is 0-10 makes the playoffs, and it happened, there’s an issue.

8 teams again, yes. But we know why it's at 16 and I don't foresee it changing.

Question how would 1 0-10 team earn more points than another 0-10 team

No. 8 is still too watered down. 2 or 4 teams per region would good. Better yet, I say scrap the playoffs altogether and let the AP decide state champions like in the good old days.

16 is ridiculous. Nothing wrong with 8.
No one lower than a 5 made the final 4 last year.

I think 12 would be the magic number, that would get a a solid group of teams in, and not punish teams with difficult schedules. There are the exceptions, like Portsmouth, imo Portsmouth is a live 15 seed with a shot at Fairland. But 12 with the first 4 teams getting byes would be solid imo.

I am hearing that playoff tickets are 15 dollars. Has anyone else heard this?
Re: Time to go back to 8 team playoff???
Tickets are 8 dollars in advance not 15
8 is probably the best way to do it, but kids getting a chance to play more football and in the postseason is fine with me
Plus the state is pulling in to much money now to ever stop this

Re: Time to go back to 8 team playoff???
Last few years plenty of lower seeds have won games. Team you are weeks 1-5 isn’t the team you are week 11. Lots of teams deal with injuries and get kids back. Some bad teams are playing terrible schedules and good teams are playing tough schedules. Let’s decide these games on the field. Top 8 teams in harbin points are never the top 8 teams in the region. The current format let’s us have great reg season matchups.

Just looking at the computer points for our area there are so many great match ups for week one of playoffs if we were doing 8 instead of 16.

No team lower than a 5 seed in the final 4 last year, any division.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 11:21 am Last few years plenty of lower seeds have won games. Making the playoffs as lower seed is a great way to build a program. Get the school excited and get more kids out to play. More football isn’t a bad thing. Nobody is forcing you to go to games you don’t want to.smurray wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 11:46 amNo team lower than a 5 seed in the final 4 last year, any division.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 11:21 am Last few years plenty of lower seeds have won games. Spot on. 12 is the perfect balance between OHSAA getting their extra games to make more money they don’t need, while making the regular season still matter. 16 teams/region does feel watered down.*knowledge wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 9:43 am I think 12 would be the magic number, that would get a a solid group of teams in, and not punish teams with difficult schedules. Re: Time to go back to 8 team playoff???
The only way more than a 12 team playoff makes any sense is if the top 4 get a first week bye week. A 1 team versus 16 seed is not equitable for the #16 team and increases risks to athletes that play other sports, and for the following football season. Plain and simple money grab....
