Fans Complaining About Transfers
Re: Fans Complaining About Transfers
I now understand why community, fighting through adversity, and commitment are long gone. Sad honestly.

That was gone years ago. You have seen that unfortunately first hand,. How many kids left NW, or really all school districts in the last 2 decades? It has been a business model 100% since the 2000's, just look at OHSAA making it an open playoff then a 16 seed playoff, after years of an 8 seed and I may be wrong but wasn't it a 4 seed before that? $$$ makes the world go round, not sticking to a school that cannot get you to the $$$. The fault is in the system from pro to college to High School to Jr. High, not the family or kids trying to reach the next progression. It is honestly sad, but that is the evolution of the sports across the country.

I don’t blame the kids or parents. They should do what’s best for their kid. Too bad education gets lost in most of these decisions since that’s what will be determining their future job.ValleyStrong wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 8:36 pm There is and has always been loopholes in the transfer or move rules. Ohio is behind all southern states in athlete development for 2 old reasons, and 1 new.
1. Southern states recruit beginning in Jr. High
2. Ohio is one of the states that does not have spring football.
NIL has now made HS football a job to get paid at the next level. Open enrollment is the only solution. It is a business and the kids are trying to develop and build a resume. How can you fault the kid or parent for trying to improve the odds for their job. Should you only work in a certain radius of where you live? Or take a lower wage since you do not? These are young adults not little kids who are trying for a future beyond their hometown.
All of this transferring and NIL money is just quickening the eventual demise of football as we know it.

Sadly, it’s not 1973 when football was on the rise and education was still considered important. Football and education are now both in decline. The NIL/transfer systems are making matters worse.Tri_State790 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 9:10 pmValleyStrong wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 8:36 pm There is and has always been loopholes in the transfer or move rules. Them mericans just love em some merica UNTIL they find out capitalism does not gaf about our sentiments. lol. If there's a dollar to be made behold the inevitable. Nobody should be taken aback or dismayed. This is our structured progression. Entire world is connected. More opportunity more options more money mo problems blah blah blah. lol. High school football in Ironton or Eerie Pennsylvania or Dallas Texas is not immune just cause we are attached emotionally. Schools want more opportunities for student athletes and themselves,.Parents want more opportunities for kids. Kids want opportunities for themselves. And high school is about transitioning to ya next level and preparing yaself a path to do so. It is NOT about protecting a 40 or 50 year old sentimental perception of ye sacred hometown.RBH23 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:11 pmI don’t blame the kids or parents. Raise a generation and teach them directly or by natural experience that you need opportunity and money to do well and then act surprised they grow up to chase opportunity for themselves. Lol
Delusional. Gotta accept the change.

You all are 100% correct education, and community gets lost in all this. A small fraction will get to college, and a needle in the haystack will get to pro. Still all sportts from peewee up are ran as a business, and kids now have to work year round to even keep up with it if it is their dream. Because they have to work year round, to me that is now a job, and not an extracurricular activity like it was suppose to be. You also pay to go to camps, clinics, showcases, so you can be recruited..... $$$ profiteering has killed what childhood, community, and most importantly education should be.RBH23 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:11 pmI don’t blame the kids or parents. Capitalism is not just about short term or immediate gratification. Plus, the institutions involved in these opportunities (schools, colleges, etc) are not free market enterprises.Tri_State790 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:27 pmWell, capitalism doesn't make exceptions. At the end of the day, these government controlled institutions are desperate for money and will do anything to get it. Even neglecting the education of “student-athletes.”

A Lotta kids these days end up more successfull pursuing alternatives to the traditional education route. In a Lotta cases that route seems to have a good bit of debt involved for kids who are not financially able to pay for school. And in seo that would probably be represented by a majority. I think a great deal of young folks these days have sorta soured on a lot of traditional ways to progress. So that makes opportunities like open enrollment and a NIL even more important and ultimately becomes blocking kids from opportunity based on wanting to force a traditional path you are morally convicted to. Just because you favor one path of progression gives no cause to block another. Can have all opportunity simultaneously and let kids and their families choose their chosen path.ValleyStrong wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:35 pmYou all are 100% correct education, and community gets lost in all this. You know how most end up successful? Either an education in something marketable (engineering, CS, nursing, etc) or learning a trade (welding, plumbing, etc). Becoming an OnlyFans millionaire or professional athlete is just a pipe dream.Tri_State790 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:45 pmA Lotta kids these days end up more successfull pursuing alternatives to the traditional education route. Colleges and high schools have driven this arms race for talent at all costs. The are trying to grab a few bucks before the entire system implodes. It’s a short-sighted money grab to keep their sports programs afloat. The free for all we are currently in is just speeding up the eventual demise.
It’s good that the kids are actually getting a piece of the pie, but in the end, education and skills are what these kids will need. Not dreams of glory.

Hence why most have little. They can’t see the big picture, only the short term gain.Tri_State790 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:47 pmEverybody is desperate for money and do anything to get it boss. Business opportunity? Less than 5% go on to play in college. It seems to me it's more about feeding the ego's of some adultsTri_State790 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 9:12 pmThey're just old archaic rules now. Above is correct. Bottom line with transfers it isn't anyone's business but the families in this world you have to do what is best for you and your family period. Anyone wants to get mad over it go cry me a river because it has zero to do with you. OHSAA falls under that category also need to keep their nose out of everyone else's business they want to pick and choose what they want to control.

Re: Fans Complaining About Transfers
The OHSAA knows that it would be virtually impossible to govern "strict" transfer rules simply because the member schools have absolutely no regard for the transfer rules (which they shouldnt). The OHSAA cannot allow private schools to lie, cheat and steal in the name of "religion" on the one hand and then turn around and strictly govern public schools with the other. Rules only work when people respect them and NOBODY should respect these rules when the OHSAA openly allows these private schools to do whatever they want.. simple as that.

Kids have been transfering from school to school for sports since at least the 1980’s, it’s not a new thing. I don’t know why it is such a big topic of discussion.
