That was bad call changing QB’s. This kid had only lost one game at QB and you move on from him was a bad decision. You do not replace your senior QB. After they changed QB the team lost morale and was never the same team. I would also run the darn ball with Terry!SEO95 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 11:46 amWell said. Re: Ironton v Harvest Prep
2 months ago every Fighting Tiger fan post I read was calling for a QB switch after the Midland game. Many didn’t think #11 was the answer after committing 5 turnovers. Fast forward to end of the season and #11 mustered 2 TDs for the offense against Gallia and Portsmouth. The offense at that point was beginning to sputter and I’m guessing the staff thought it was time for change. It wasn’t like #12 didn’t take reps during the season at QB. He always got a couple series every game.

Maybe the talent level isn’t as great as some think. You ever thought maybe the College stuff wouldn’t happen if Pendleton wasn’t pushing them so hard with his connections. Just an observation that many have said. Pendleton and staff haven’t had a Jermon Jackson or Walt Delong or anyone like that yet.
What I would believe is players like the 2 kids from Ashland and others haven’t helped themselves from a scholarship standpoint by attending Ironton. That and the fact that no guys have yet to pan out in college will eventually cause coaches to discredit the word of the Ironton coaches.
Even worse will be when the football crazy town of Ironton sours to the way the team is ran and totally turns on the coaches and the transfers stop coming.
Sounds like you just answered the question you were implying. I think Ironton is in good shape. 11-2 is worst season they’ve had and that is a disappointment. Oh and right now. Match resume for resume at this point in career . Pendleton is ahead of Coach Lutz and Woodward and many other coaches on the Mt. Rushmore of coaches in Southern Ohio. Lutz didn’t win first title til year 7. Guess what? 2024 is year 7 for Pendleton. Let’s hope the stars align in 2024

Who decides that? They say that but it doesn’t show on the field. Offensive line is and has been terrible considering the material they have and all the weapons they have to keep defenses off balance.Bfan99 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 1:48 am The weight lifting program at Ironton is arguably the best in the area. He works with kids during the offseason to focus on weight gain, speed and strength. This years junior class is 90% kids that has been at Ironton since their freshman year including Terry. Josh Johnson CB is a kid that has had a tremendous jump from only playing JV to being one of Ironton’s best defensive players. He will have college offers soon. The Ironton staff is 100% developing players.
What they do is out recruit people to out athlete Southern Ohio schools that rely on kids from a 20 mile circle of their school and beat their chest about it. They rely on poaching committed players from area teams who were forced to play as freshmen and sophomores at other schools and then “claim” that they were built at Ironton. You give half the coaches in the local area the talent from any of the last 6 years and they do more with it and probably get ran out of town if they don’t.

It blows my mind to read posts about not having this or that. They have a lineman committed to Eastern Michigan. A receiver with offers from most every Power 5 school east of the Mississippi. Numerous other guys who will play college ball and 60 kids on a roster. Heck most school’s don’t have 2 kids who are qualified to play varsity quarterback and fans are arguing who it should be. It’s crazy.
As with every other year, when Ironton plays a team where coaching becomes a priority and the talent is close, they loose.

HP did an excellent job of taking Terry out of the game. It was one of those let someone else beat us if you can.
I still say the Tiger's need to find an identity on offense. There just didn't seem to be a ryhme or reason in play calling. It's easy to play bully ball, being all flashy, against the soft part of your schedule but ya hit a wall against like opponents. Then we get all panicky trying to find a play that works.
Commit to the run. Perfect the fundamentals. Get the big boys firing off the ball and into the flow of the game early and often.
Anyway, I'm sure the smart people will figure it out. Jmo on it all.

Exactly what they need to do!! Have said this all year about Burg, and the same applies to Ironton. Both teams’ identity should be running the ball.FIDO wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 1:02 pm HP did an excellent job of taking Terry out of the game. It was one of those let someone else beat us if you can.

I’m amazed how the Burg OC will have success running the ball yet still revert back to what doesn’t/hasn’t worked. Truly don’t get why “keeping it simple” is so difficult.
