Who was "HIM" in the Opening Weekend Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line

Post by pfloyd »

We had some outstanding TEAM wins in the opening weekend of action in the SE District ! The committee of one thought one of the BEST wins in the opening weekend was Washington CH beating St. Charles 56-49 ... Waverly picked up a pair of W's , as did Eastern Pike and Western Pike ... another top win was Hillsboro beating Wilmington! - nice out of district W for the SE District ... good win for Circleville with the W over Zane Trace at the ZT Classic ... the BEST game imo over the weekend Western Pike's 84-83 2OT win over Piketon unbelievable comeback down 19 midway through the 3rd quarter - outstanding! ... 2 SE District teams traveled to Hoosier Land with Portsmouth West beating Elite 8 ranked Jackson 72-70 - excellent W for the Senators ... Fairland entertained Elite 8 North Adams in Proctorville - another great OT game between 2 excellent TEAMS ... the Dragons holding serve at home 68-66 in OT with Bransyn Copas getting a good look/missing off the iron on the final shot of the OT ... a most excellent start to the regular season in the SE District ... BUUUUUUUUUT my question is :

Who was "HIM" in the Opening Weekend???? ... who individually put up the numbers or had games that we need to give them props? ...

Kam Janes (Western Pike) in 2 games both W's ... 23 pts Friday night, hitting the winning shot in double OT vs Piketon, comes back on Saturday vs Huntington to score 28 points (he sat out over a full quarter with 4 fouls) ... 51 points in 2 game over the weekend ...

Drew Haggy (Western Pike) ... 36 points vs Piketon ... 26 in the 4th quarter and 2 OT periods ...

Brent McGuire (Piketon) ... 26 points vs Western Pike
Bo Henry (Piketon ) the 6-6 sophomore had 22 vs Western Pike

Zeke Schobelock (Unioto) ... 24 points in a winning effort vs Miami Trace ... 4 treys ... 4 transition buckets
Chase Allen (Fairland) ... 24 points vs North Adams
Bransyn Copas (North Adams) ... 23 points vs Fairland

Tate Davis (Hillsboro) ... 23 points with 4 treys ... led the 'boro to 66-52 win over Wilmington

... MORE ... who was "HIM" over the weekend ?

Haggy is Himothy. End thread. Who else scored almost thirty points in the 4th quarter AND hit the three at the buzzer to send it to over time… one of the best games I’ve ever watched

Can add Tipton to that list also who scored 19. Those 3 scored 68 of there 72 points.

Will Kegley came out and played very well over at the Hoosier gym. Our young sophomore showed what he is capable of.

Perfect guys! So many quality players who had “ I am HIM” moments … I want to do this every week - so as many players get recognized as possible throughout the season … maybe one of the site monitors can sticky a thread that we will all add to on game nights ??? It’s hard to find game stats anymore with online papers only giving you a few reads before requiring a subscription BUT let’s give it a shot …

I like both Haggy and Janes. What a duo. Haggy (36pts) to tie with the three and Janes (21 pts)to win in the double OT with the put back on Friday night. Then Saturday to come back after the long Friday night game and win(Janes with 30 pts and Haggy with 5pts). They have always worked well together.
Saw a lot of good players at one school this weekend! Gonna be a fun year of basketball!

JLB9, I do not - now during some of the classics many school have girls varsity contests - ie. last year I did Fairland when they played at Warren ... there are some outstanding girls side teams and individual players all over Southern and SE Ohio - I just don't have the time to follow the girls side like I do the boys side ... I'll see the Fort Frye girls vs Portsmouth girls on Sunday this week at Shawnee State , then Warren vs Waterford at the Clash at the Coliseum later in December ... not against watching good girls hoops at all ...

Manson is a beast for Coach Uhrig's Hustlin' Huntsmen. One of the best sophomores in the area. Followed that performance up with 15 & 9 along with 3 steals and a block in a win over Amanda CC. GO GREEN! TWP TOUGH!

Caleb Schmelzer was definitely HIM last night vs Bloom Carroll. He scored 27 points, including the game winning, running 3 at the horn.
