Impressive win by our Lady Trojans over a very good Boyd Co.KY team. Took control early and kept adding to the lead. Big difference between this year's LT's and last year's version is having more experience and a much deeper bench.

Not a senior in PHS's starting lineup, including 2 freshmen.

In the game against Boyd county, for Portsmouth,Reid had 19 and Allen had 27.

Another strong outing by the Lady Trojans, and a good thing along with it is that all the girls got to play. Important for the bench to get some meaningful minutes, and also good to see Portsmouth have success against a zone defense, which I'm sure they'll see in the tournament.

Love Rock Hill's gym.......my favorite in the OVC. Their popcorn is also #1.

Trojans down by double digits at the half against Pikeville. Pikeville shooting and making the 3 ball like it’s going out of style. It’s not being defended well either. Not a ton of offense for the Trojans outside of Allen, who has 17, along with 4 first half fouls. Girls for Pikeville who’s going to Southern Miss is tough.

Final from Boyd County KY Portsmouth 52 Pikeville 68. Portsmouth was never able to recover after going down double digits early on. I think it was maybe 12-0? Second half was honestly pretty even. Tough early season loss but should only make the team better come tournament time. Nice game offensively from Allen. Defense needs to play better, gotta defend the 3 ball. Lady Trojans are back in action tomorrow at Shawnee State.

Portsmouth was down 15 to 0 in the first qtr I believe, maybe 13 ,but could not overcome it.

Hopefully they can get back on the winning side tomorrow against fort frye at Shawnee state

Good to see the Lady Trojans rebound yesterday with the win vs. Fort Frye. As PTrojan59 said, against Pikeville PHS fell behind big early and was never able to recover. What we have to remember about these Lady Trojans is that they start 2 freshmen, 2 sophomores, and a junior. It's early in the season and there's room for improvement, but I really believe that Coach Hughes will get them to where they want to go.

They play Coal Grove at home tonight......3 games in 3 days.
