I remember when we had less talented teams but had kids that were up to the challenge & we would beat Burg often, especially at home. Hope our kids find some fire & heart before tomorrow. The Ghost of Swanker wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 2:58 pm I don’t think so. Burg wants it more and is tougher. Hate to say it but we’re Charmin soft.

SW -12 if they run a zone 1-3-1 or 1-2-2 (and perhaps if they’ve been taught how to effectively run one)Eugene2009 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 3:11 pmI remember when we had less talented teams but had kids that were up to the challenge & we would beat Burg often, especially at home. Burg has already beat Minford and Portsmouth at home, and also beat Webster by 10+ on road this season. You’re either way too high on Webster, or way too low on Burg. As for the zone, Minford zoned Burg majority of game and still couldn’t beat them.Spalding22 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 6:43 pmSW -12 if they run a zone 1-3-1 or 1-2-2 (and perhaps if they’ve been taught how to effectively run one)Eugene2009 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 3:11 pmI remember when we had less talented teams but had kids that were up to the challenge & we would beat Burg often, especially at home. Agree with this being a pick ‘em as Webster is more than capable of winning this one. But I don’t see any scenario where they beat Burg on road by 12+ points*

Re: REMATCH SOUTH WEBSTER vs. WHEELERSBURG @ Burg Fri.1/26/24 (Burg's Homecoming)
The only issue I see with this Wheelersburg team is that they tend to play to the level of their opposition. However, since Webster is very strong, the Pirates will be ready to play.
They rebound well for being undersized, they have 2 guys that can absolutely go get you a bucket and then a solid group off depth as well. To me, Webster’s guards have to show up for the Jeeps to win this game. I think 12-15 points would be enough.
I’ll take the Pirates, but I think it’s close either way.

The biggest difference between Burg and Webster is the depth they both Burg have, and more than likely it will be the main factor in this game again. They BOTH have it.... But Burg has seemed to figure it out by utilizing their bench more and making the right rotations getting their right 5 guys out on the floor when they need them the most. Webster hasn't figured it out yet. There's been some long...... stretches in some games and not just in the Minford and Burg games where Webster seemed to forget that they have a bench to go to, as result got no production on offence. They got to find more points from someone besides Roberts and Sommer. Eventually you'd think the lightbulb would come on and they'd realize that if they keep beating a dead horse they still end up with a dead horse and a big "L" to go with it.

Jack has to play atleast 25 minutes tonight and Roberts needs 15 rebounds for Webster to have a chance in this one. Look for Barnard to run point half the game and get 6-8 points

Agree, the Timothy kid will definitely have to be more involved this game, and Webster's guards will have to contribute some points for them to have any chance. The Ghost of Swanker wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 9:18 am Jack has to play atleast 25 minutes tonight and Roberts needs 15 rebounds for Webster to have a chance in this one. Webster has mismatches all over the floor. Sommer, Roberts, and Scottish kid all mismatches for burg in the post, both with size and skill. They could easily put them to bed if the right strategy is employed.art_vandelay wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:58 pmBurg has already beat Minford and Portsmouth at home, and also beat Webster by 10+ on road this season. Did West beat Burg running a 1-3-1, or am I getting misinformation?

West lost to Burg, but their 1-3-1 was effective against Burg. But West was also playing at home where they are a tough matchup (Minford only beat them by 2 points at West the week before) and Burg was just coming off a huge win over Minford (letdown game).Spalding22 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 10:10 amWebster has mismatches all over the floor. I'm not saying that a zone can't be effective against Burg, I'm just pointing out that it's not some silver bullet for Webster that will suddenly take them from losing by 10 points to Burg at home to them beating Burg on road by 12+. Biggest factors I see in this game though is backcourt production from Webster and the battle on the boards.*
Re: REMATCH SOUTH WEBSTER vs. WHEELERSBURG @ Burg Fri.1/26/24 (Burg's Homecoming)
Burg holds and advantage over webster in every position except for roberts. He's the best player in the league when it comes to basketball talent. If he gets hot webster can win, if he goes below his average, burg wins.
