That’s your prediction for Logan Elm vs. Warren? Not saying a win is impossible, but that outcome is highly unlikely.

Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
I’m taking Warren by 15. If Warren plays like they have been playing lately then they will be a tough team to beat. Junior PG Julian Stadleman is a stud that pumps in nearly 20 ppg. Senior C Trent Taylor is a 1000 point scorer and is playing inspired basketball. Then you have one or two other kids that can step up and score double digits on any given night. They are a dangerous defensive team as well; especially
lock-down defender, Jacob Sealey. Not to mention Coach Maddox & Staff are coaching wizards. I believe Logan Elm needs to play a near perfect game to beat Warren.

Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
I watched the Unioto loss to Logan Elm yesterday ... went thru and did the usual pfloyd breakdown ... wanted to see how this happened AND wanted to see if Warren had a chance in this game vs a team that has taken on the cinderella role in the 3 game post season win streak, beating Athens 57-28, Washington CH 39-38 (2 weeks prior LE lost to Court House by 27 pts), Unioto 58-57 ... LE has won 2 straight games that on paper - they weren't SUPPOSED to win ...
.. LE vs Unioto by the numbers:
Pfloyd's official "UN-official" Napkin Stats - Unioto
Scoring ... KB Perkins 22, Blake Fitch 10, Newt Hoops 7, Caden Cutright 7, Blake Hoops 5, Ashton Crace 4, Jordan Perkins 2
3 Pointers ... 4/17 ... Caden Cutright 2, Blake Hoops 1, Newt Hoops 1
FTs ... 13/18
TOs ... 11
PnP ... 13 fgs/ 26 points in the paint
PnT ... 3 fgs/ 6 point in transition
Pbk ..... 2 fgs/ 4 pts on putback buckets
... in my own little mind I thought the U would "pound" the ball inside with 6-5 KB Perkins and 6-7 Jordan Perkins - but only 13 fgs in the paint ... here's a breakdown of the U in the opening 2 quarters that I felt was "the game" ... in the opening quarter Unioto went inside the paint 3 times resulting in 3 fgs for points while they were 0 for 4 from behind the arc - the long rebounds off the perimeter shots resulted in no offensive boards, one and done ... 3 turnovers .. in the 2nd quarter UHS with 4 possession into the paint with positive results 2 fgs made at the rim and 2 fg attempts sent KB Perkins to the FT line for pts ... in the 2nd UHS took 9 fg attempts from the perimeter - only 2 fgs made (2 threes) ... defensively Unioto didn't close out on the shooters, 12 "spot up 3" attempts for LE with 7 splashes in the opening 2 quarter ... LE had only 1 fg in the paint in the first half ... 4 turnovers (on ball pressure by the U forced the TOs)... after the half ... 3rd period - the U DID pound the ball inside - KB Perkins with 10pts INSIDE the paint in the 3rd , the first 3 possessions the U went into Perkins who finished at the rim, 2 possessions were 2pts & 1's ... in all in the 3rd the U went inside the paint 6 times, 5 fgs made, and/or went to the FT line ... perimeter shots in the 3rd - the U with 5 fg attempts 3 made (2 treys) ... defensively the U forced the shooters to move/no perimeter looks - only 2 three point attempts by LE in the 3rd & 1 make ... what DID happen in the 3rd was Nemiah Waugh went to the rim - only one fg BUT went to the FT line 6/6 ... others went 3/4 from the line ... only 3 fgs for LE in the period ... the U closed the gap trailing 40-45 after 3 ... the U outscored LE in the last 2 quarters 22-16 in the 3rd, 17-13 in the 4th ... one player took down the U in the end ... Nemiah Waugh with 8 pts in the 3rd 6/6 from the line ... 9 pts in the 4th with 2 midrange jumpers , a drive from the right wing for 2 and the final 3/4 court drive from the right wing for 2pts where he kept his dribble alive & a spin move to the rim ... a negative for LE in the last 3 quarters were the turnovers from the U's on ball pressure on the perimeter - the pressure forced 14 LE turnovers ... the on ball pressure kept the ball in the gym in the 2nd half as LE took only 5 three point attempts making 1 ... Waugh made 5 fgs in the 2nd half the rest of the LE team 3 fgs ... for the U ... 3 perimeter fg attempts making 2 fgs - midrange jumpers ... in the paint fg attempts 6 ... 4 fgs made in the paint/ got the line for 5/6 FTs ... Logan Elm 58 Unioto 57 a final
Pfloyd's official "UN-official" Napkin Stats - Logan Elm
Scoring ... Nemiah Waugh 26, Tyler Speas 16, Brody Sabine 6, Carson Summers 5,Camden Redd 3, Keegan Diehl 2
3 Pointers ... 8/17 ... 7/12 in the first half/ 1 for 5 in the 2nd half ... Tyler Speas 4, Brody Sabine 2,Nemiah Waugh 2
FTs ... 16/22
TOs ... 14
PnP ... 7fgs/ 14 points in the paint
PnT ... 2 fgs/ 4pts in transition
Pbk ... 0
... what the heck does all of this mean ... the Cinderella story is real - imo had the U gone inside in the opening 2 qtrs with the same energy they did in the 2nd half - the U goes on ... the U missed 3 transition shots at the rim with numbers in the game - Cinderella moved on ... if the U had closed out on shooters in the opening 2 qtrs as they did in the last 2 qtrs - different tally on the scoredboard with LE getting only 1/5 from 3 in the first 2 qtrs instead of 7/12 ... LE showed they are vulnerable to the on ball pressure as the U forced 14 turnovers in the last 3 quarters ... lots of what ifs! hindsight is 20/20 so they say ... the Cinderella Story moves on to the Convo! Warren vs the Cinderella Story? on paper ( utt ohh there it is again "on paper") Warren SHOULD pound the ball inside - Taylor/Lupardus/Wells ... Warren applies as good of on ball pressure as any team in the D2 field ... closing out on shooters/forcing them off their spots -seems a given to take away the LE 3pt game ... I'm going to be courtside for a front row seat Monday night to see how this one unfolds ... best of luck to both teams !

Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
Warren is the favorite but could be a trap game since the next game could be Marietta
Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
I never say never, but I don't think Warren will get trapped. Have respect for what Logan Elm has achieved, however.
Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
Marietta fan here, but I think Warren wins this one going away. LE has had a nice run but they were seeded where they were for a reason, and I think they will be outmanned by Warren.

This is a classic situation of rest vs. rust. Will be very interested to see how these Warriors come out and play on Monday night. Could be in for a slow start but over the course of the game they should get back in the flow.

Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
Warren and LE have way to much postseason history for the warriors to over look this one. LE might have slid under the radar the last two games but Maddox and Co know what to expect and that’s not a team who will carry themselves like a 14 seed. Maddox and the warriors don’t have losing records vs many programs over the years but they do to LE. Anytime Maddox can get one against these guys it’s personal. I look for the warriors and warrior faithful to be there ready to roll come Monday evening in the convo! It doesn’t get better than Basketball30 should be a fun one watching two of the best programs in the SE district Duke it out. #GoBlue

Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
Warren rolls in this one. Watched LE verse Unioto game online, and if Unioto played any defense (as noted by PFloyd above) they would have won the game easily. Warren will play defense and win by 15-20 points.
Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
It is likely and logical that Warren wins fairly comfortably tonight, but Logan Elm appears to have played the most difficult schedule of any D-II team in Southeast Ohio so is "battle-tested". The better team wins about 70% of the time in competitive tournament basketball -- all you have to be is one point better in a particular game on a given night. Warren by 18 or more tonight if I had to venture a prediction.
Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
Both teams have outstanding coaching staffs from the Head Man down the line ... BOTH teams know what they have to do on the court to get a W tonight ... it's all up to some 16-18 year olds to execute the game plan ... the "on paper" line is out there for sure BUT if there is poor execution it opens the doors for "all kinds of things to happen" if your Warren you don't want this "things" to happen where the score is a one or two possession game in the 4th qtr. when you have a one or 2 possession game as the favored team - it brings in the "bounce of the ball" on one possession or "a call here and there" that will determine the outcome ... Warren wants to establish " the on paper" look of this game early ... keep Logan Elm / the bounce of the ball out of determining the outcome of the game ... should be a good one in tonight's nightcap between these 2 teams and coaching staffs ...

Re: 3/4 Warren v Logan Elm or Unioto
Excellent perspective Pfloyd. Just as in the first game, coaching will not be the deciding factor. Both staffs top notch. All kinds of other factors such as injury, illness, unusual foul trouble, exceptionally good (or bad) shooting night, etc all come into play. I think all 4 D-II teams can play really strong defense.pfloyd wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 3:33 pm Both teams have outstanding coaching staffs from the Head Man down the line ...
