South Webster Baseball

After losing top two arms on the mound in Martin and Lower does South Webster have enough pitching to compete this season in the SOCIII?

I think they will “compete”. Not sure how many wins that will equal in conference play. Losing Martin & Lower definitely hurts, but they had several freshman, now sophomores who gave them some good innings. Defense will be (should be) rock solid as they started an all freshman infield good majority of last year & return probably the fastest center fielder in the league. Bats should be improved. I think consistency might be an issue at times with their youth but they have the pieces to play everyone tough. Another trip to the district championship is not out of the question.

I’m sure they can compete. The district is iffy. Whiteoak is still going to be solid as always. Same thing with fairfield. And they will test themselves with a regular season game against Eastern. Eastern only really lost 2 (Maybe 3) top players. Basically returning that whole bullpen.

For sure, Farfield is def the favorite. Whiteoak is always solid. I’m just saying I wouldn’t sleep on SW come Tourny time. They’ve got 4 sophomores that pitched well in Jr high & 2 that gave some good innings last year. They just weren’t needed much with having Martin & Lower. Playing Burg, Minford & Valley 2x per yr is always a plus. Seldom do they see better pitching outside the SOC.

Jeeps will be fine. The basketball tourney run got them a little behind right now, but Coach McClintic and staff will get things turned around. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if Webster goes into tourney with a .500 record and still ends up in Regionals.*
