Ironton should be winning. They have had extra players come in and help. I don’t expect anything different this year with the new ones they have added.Larry Fine wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:33 pmBut it wasn’t that long ago that Burg seemed light years ahead of anyone locally. Two words , Larry Hall. Burg isn’t what it was 5 years ago.
But burg still pretty good when you win conference and go to regionals.
Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
We’ve done the math on this over and over. Burg’s team is composed of homegrown talent more than IHS and most of the SOC teams. Do I really need to do the math for you once again? Or is showing you the numbers just a wait of time?Tri_State79 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:16 pmart_vandelay wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 8:43 pm Adkins going to Portsmouth (mainly for basketball and baseball) and already lives in that district. Heard Cunningham actually lives in Green district which is where he transferring. Not sure about Clausing, but he going to Green as well.
Looks like the Larry Hall hire at Green already paying off for them. Solid coaching and new facilities going to make Green an attractive option for kids looking for a change of scenery.*
So homegrown burg lost some ( gulp) transfers?
They left the honor of being a part of seo's superior coaching, culture & academics? I thought all these burg kids lived in burg? The Ironton kids live in Ironton. But everybody is saying the kids portaling and departing the Yale of SEO all live everywhere else but burg? lol
So players are trying to transfer to Ironton but burg is losing kids including what at least one that played a role in the backfield?
5 - 5
As for 5-5, again, I will take that bet. Already said it doesn’t even have to be money. Loser stays off this site for one year. Ready to make that bet?
Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
With IHS’ overwhelming talent advantage, they should win this one, but don’t underestimate Pendleton’s ability to blow a game. He’ll do his best to mess this season up.fbnut wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:08 pmtrue. guarantee losses to ironton, jackson and prepLarry Fine wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 10:56 pmTwo words , Larry Hall. Jackson: game should be close but expect Burg to win this year. No guarantee given Burg has the “Pendleton problem” when it comes to Jackson of late; always finding a way to steal defeat from the jaws of victory.
HP: that would be an upset if Burg wins this one. HP is the one team that could beat IHS and win the region.

There is no other reasonable explanation to go from Burg to Green. That is a drop off in literally everything. Maybe the kids want to go and play a ton rack up stats and dominate the SOC Iwobycat wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 10:43 pmNot true. All would have started. Played a lot of snaps last year. Not sure why they are moving but has nothing to do with playing time.Jeaux Burreaux wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 9:47 pm I’d say the kids from green are for playing time why wait at burg when you can play now

Trouble in paradise?
Kids leaving for other schools. Kids wanting to leave, Kids not playing, rumors of a lack of control of the program, QB battle brewing. Lack of kids getting looks from college programs. Low participation #s in weight room due to kids specializing. Just the tip of the iceberg
All of these have been floating around for several months.

I\d heard that too. Reliable source had told me that Rucker really doesn't want to be QB and really wants to focus on basketball.
Maybe he was told he is a D1 prospect like Ater told Kenny Sanderlin a few years back.

The last time the burg replaced the starter QB with the younger player it worked out pretty well

I'd heard that too. Can't remember the kids name but I think he was a Freshman last year.
Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
Was told the same thing from a realistic burg fan. They said they are having problems with some of the kids in the program not showing up to anything because of Basketball/Baseball obligations this summer. Was told coaching staff is becoming frustrated with the situation. The burg fan said the starting QB would likely be the Freshman QB who started JV last year.yabbadabbadoo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 7:10 amart_vandelay wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 12:48 amQB battle brewing? Kids that played significant minutes/Started last year left for Green??? Hearing others could be heading that way too.
Another left for Portsmouth? A handful has enrolled at Valley?
Larry Hall is licking his chops right now.
Burg fans talking like 6-4 could be the ceiling, And you think this is normal for Wheelersburg?
The biggest issue I hear is the lack of College recruiting exposure the program provides. Parents are starting to see it. There’s not been much separation on field between Ironton athletes and Wheelersburg last 5 years but Ironton kids are getting the opportunity at much more accelerated pace. Wheelersburg Softball has figured it out and is doing what Ironton does in football.
That’s not normal.
