2024 Football Transfers

Post by GrumpyPundit »

Have any kids enrolled in new schools or left schools in this area this summer that will affect the football landscape?

Wheelersburg CB is 13 based on last year’s roster that had around 70 kids.

If all 13 lived in Franklin Furnace, that would be around 19% of the roster from Franklin Furnace, not 69%.

However, given you graduated from IHS, I can understand why your math is so far off :)

Burg dips into FF, Portsmouth & occasionally Minford & Valley. Ironton dips into Burg, FF, all of Lawrence county, Ashland, Mississippi, Huntington, Lucasville, The Netherlands, Florida, Taiwan…anywhere they can get their hands in.

So Irontons program is a more attractive destinantion. Yes that makes sense. Burg is more lil sis.

With so many schools in the same area you will have a lot of transfers.

This is one area where Pendleton does excel, not because he wants to but because he has to. IHS program epitomizes the rust belt with its glory days long gone. The Ironton of the 70’s and 80’s will never return!

Without all of this talent brought in, Pendleton would be on the hot seat if not already fired. As I have said, he’s smart to do so because there is no chance IHS can win a football state title without lots of help from the outside.

Bringing in talent, winning football games , winning conference championships, winning playoff games , getting kid’s scholarships, getting kids stronger ….

Some of other areas he has excelled at as a young head coach

One thing missing from all of that besides him not landing the Moeller gig.

Sure maybe a kid moves from Rock Hill into Ironton, maybe a kid comes across the river from Ashland and goes to Ironton. But Huntington, Lucasville, Mississippi? Those kids aren’t just randomly moving to Ironton (let’s be honest most don’t actually move to the city of Ironton) for a fresh start because it’s close to the school they were at. Recruiting is happening and it’s fine, I’m cool with it. But also not naive let’s at least be honest about it, Burg has done it, Ironton had done it, many other schools have as well. Just comical for an Ironton poster to take a shot at Burg for something they’ve done way more of. Lol

He’s not done , I like our chances to win another title. Yes losing on the biggest stage is painful but it also means you’ve made it further than everyone else but 1. I always chuckle when teams make fun of someone for losing a state title game, guess what numb 🥜, we made it further than your team.

IHS did only lose by 26 to South Range. That is an improvement over their performance against Kirtland.

Btw, since you’ve brought up “making it further in the playoffs”, Burg has went further than Ironton 2 out of the last 3 years including a 1-0 record in the playoffs against Ironton during that stretch.

So Pendleton’s IHS team hasn’t really been trending closer to a title as of late. Actually going backwards compared to his first two years. That said, with a loaded team in ‘24 can he finally get over the hump? Or is it another year of less with more?

You’ve said all this to nausea , Coach Pendleton has done an excellent job as head coach of Ironton. We’ll find out whose program is better shape in week 1. Tick Tock Tick Tock …..

Looks like burg is headed down that road tbh.
