He’s not done , I like our chances to win another title. Yes losing on the biggest stage is painful but it also means you’ve made it further than everyone else but 1. I always chuckle when teams make fun of someone for losing a state title game, guess what numb 🥜, we made it further than your team.
IHS did only lose by 26 to South Range. That is an improvement over their performance against Kirtland.

Btw, since you’ve brought up “making it further in the playoffs”, Burg has went further than Ironton 2 out of the last 3 years including a 1-0 record in the playoffs against Ironton during that stretch.

So Pendleton’s IHS team hasn’t really been trending closer to a title as of late. Actually going backwards compared to his first two years. That said, with a loaded team in ‘24 can he finally get over the hump? Or is it another year of less with more?
You’ve said all this to nausea , Coach Pendleton has done an excellent job as head coach of Ironton. We’ll find out whose program is better shape in week 1. Tick Tock Tick Tock …..
Oh, I’m sorry. Didn’t realize that only Ironton fans can repeat themselves over and over on this board. Thanks for the clarification.

So Irontons program is a more attractive destinantion. Yes that makes sense. Burg is more lil sis.
This is one area where Pendleton does excel, not because he wants to but because he has to. IHS program epitomizes the rust belt with its glory days long gone. The Ironton of the 70’s and 80’s will never return!

Without all of this talent brought in, Pendleton would be on the hot seat if not already fired. As I have said, he’s smart to do so because there is no chance IHS can win a football state title without lots of help from the outside.
Looks like burg is headed down that road tbh.
Based on what? Since 1989, Burg has won 3 baseball state titles, 3 softball state titles, and 1 football state title. That far exceeds what they did pre-1989.

Just curious why the 8th grade ?
Over the years a lot of ISJ students transfer after Junior High to IHS. A lot has been made here about transfers but that is the world we live in today especially with NIL now ruining college sports.
I think Pendleton needs to improve his play calling
but overall he’s done a good job. I have to ask why doesn’t Burg do more things in the off season to draw more interest in the program. Maybe 7 on 7 is two hand touch but it can’t hurt.

Burg fans deflect to "transfer" talk because they have no answer they are willing to admit as to WHY Ironton, Jackson and Prep consistently BEAT woodards pirates like a drum. 😭

Deflect to transfers? That’s because transfers keep Ironton’s program afloat!

2022, last year Ironton went further than Burg in playoffs, Felder, Keyes, and Perkins scored 70% of Ironton’s touchdowns in the regional finals, state semifinals, and state championships games. 70%!! That year, Burg lost to Ironton 12-3. Who scored the touchdowns? Perkins and Felder.

It’s what Ironton is despite all of the false claims by Ironton fans.

When they beat burg, they did it in Ironton uniforms. And when they beat burg in their own building again in week 1, saaaaaame thing. In Ironton unis.

Ironton, Jackson and Prep starting to see burg as a gimme game. Burgs HC doesnt seem to be evolving at anything but his salary.

Burg’s program is perfectly fine without them. Had only one on the 2017 state title team and zero on the 1989 state title team.

As for Ironton, their program would be impacted greatly without the transfers they have received. Sayers, Perkins, Keyes, Felder, Terry, etc. All have dramatically impacted IHS’ program.

Not mad at all. Burg is not for everyone and not an easy place to move into from the outside.

Having grown up in Burg, I love the fact that titles we won were with kids that I played ball with my entire life.

As for the open borders, I, along with many at Burg, wish they were kept closed. Of course that’s not going to happen now because it would kill property values of newer homes built around Burg if the borders were closed.

Bringing in talent, winning football games , winning conference championships, winning playoff games , getting kid’s scholarships, getting kids stronger ….

Some of other areas he has excelled at as a young head coach
One thing missing from all of that besides him not landing the Moeller gig.
What ?

Maybe he is saying "what" to the fact he didn't know their golden boy went behind everyone's back and applied for the Moeller job and no one at ironton knew. When he leaves and everyone knows he will be leaving when the right job opens up, the wheels will fall off so fast up there and it will be a hard pill to swallow for the Ironton fans unless they are able to bring in another coach who will openly go out and recruit kids while they are playing other sports at another school.

SEOPS is not the BURG/IRONTON site. Take all that talk to burg-ironton thread. I want to read news about other teams, not every topic needs to have burg/ironton in it.

Talking transfers without Ironton out front on this topic will make this a limited discussion. The entire SOC probably has fewer transfers than Ironton. Frankly this thread should simply be all about Ironton.

That said, curious to what other schools have received transfers for the upcoming year. Any game changing moves?

Portsmouth got the kid from Burg who mainly came for basketball but will play WR for the Trojans as well. Other than that I’m unsure on anyone else. Most of the kids that have moved in are basketball guys only as far as I know.

Sh*t, these days I am curious exactly how many Franklin Furnace kids are on the burg roster in any given season. 🤷‍♂️
