Irontons young QB Edwards is younger and already more dynamic. Burg is in for a tough season imo.
Maybe want to wait until he actually starts at QB in a varsity game before making any grandiose claims. The game is a lot different in front of a crowd with a defense coming at you.
Plus throw in the fact you take away the long TD run by Terry and they only score 10 points and then the fact that Burg held up their end of the bargain in the playoffs for a rematch where ironton couldn't beat HP either.

Burg always has good numbers. As they should. All those new houses being built in the land of milk & honey. I wouldn't fret bout losing a few Franklin Furnace recruits back to their homegrown program. Larger enrollment. Superior coaching & culture. Those are the fundamentals that you build a dynasty on.RBH23 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 2:25 pmOn a different note, have you heard anything about number of boys Burg will have on the team this year?yabbadabbadoo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 12:30 pmRBH23 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 4:04 pm

I look at Burg numbers because you can predict their success based on that. That is the one factors overlooked on their 2017 team, and also overlooked as a big reason why they dominate the SOC.TigerBlood00 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 11:29 pmBurg always has good numbers. Burg team with 80+ is a regional contender. Around 70, and the results will most likely be what we have seen the past 5 years. Start getting around 50-60 range, and then the SOC becomes competitive.

Ironton has been having bigger #s come out for football in recent years. But I don’t think it will ever be bigger than Burgs 80+ kids due to the fact that everyone says Coach Pendletons program is so tough and if kids aren’t full committed they can’t do it. That drives the #s down a little every year because of the work load and commitment he requires out of his program.

Are maybe some kids aren't playing for Ironton because they know a kid will be brought in and take their spot on the field so why kill yourself in practice and just be a blocking dummy all year. How many kids have left Ironton the last 6 years to go play elsewhere??

How tough is the program though?
At some point, all of the D1 offers and scholarships are wonderful, but why are the kids not staying or even still playing if they are going through such a tough program at Ironton?
Reid left OSU for solid reasons and I would think he would get to play quite a bit at WVU this fall. But what about the rest?
Is Keyes even playing football?
Carter and Perkins are now at Pikeville?
Is Washington still at Kentucky?
Is Felder still at EKU?
Is Duncan at Miami?
Why are none of the Ironton players playing in college?

And Ironton has been to more title games in the last seven seasons than burg has in programs history?

Burg had a good 7 on 7 tonight with Welston. Welston a little out matched but they have a few skilled that can play. Burg missing a few this evening but thought they looked quick to the ball.
Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
Here’s that ironton math again…in all of ironton’s football program history (114 full seasons) they have how many state titles? 2? and in 24 fewer seasons Wheelersburg has how many state titles? Oh it’s 2 as well? So seems as though Wheelersburg has the better ratio of seasons to championships…TigerBlood00 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 12:54 pmSo it took burg their entire programs history to match the two titles Ironton accumulated in 10 years time.yabbadabbadoo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 12:20 pmYeah and have at least won 2 state titles out of those 5 years.TigerBlood00 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 11:53 am
