2024-2025 Schedule/Preseason Talk

Post by Whs95fan »

Figured it was never too early to talk basketball. Looks like Warren has 18 games scheduled so far with an additional 4 more anticipated. Williamstown, Meigs, Monroe Central, and Minford are but some of the new opponents.

Have you or anyone had a chance to watch Warren in shootouts the past 4 weeks? Or any other teams in the area?

Haven't been able to make it out to any but I did see where they won the shootout in Caldwell yesterday.

Warren has their point guard back. They whacked Maysville early at Caldwell, then beat them in the championship game.

Always nice to hear that after the success Maysville has had the last few years, I do know they lost a couple kids from last year's squad but figured they'd be tough. How did the shootout go?

Don't anyone be fooled by Portsmouth's 0-6 record at the Shawnee Shootout. The Trojans played some very good teams and were quite competitive in several of them. The wounds were just superficial and not life threatening.

37 days and counting until the opening Tip Off!!!

... ONLY 13 days until Pfloyd's Elite 8 in Southern/SouthEast Ohio - Preseason Edition 2024 is released on SEOPs @ 8p November 3rd !!! I'm excited for what I feel will be an OUTSTANDING 24-25 Hoops season Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line ... quite a few quality teams have literally "the nucleus" of their past success returning for what they feel will be an even better race to District/Regional/State play in late February & early March of 2025 ... teams with 3, 4 of their starters returning!!! There are some teams that return quality classes of players who are "on paper" STILL a year away but will make noise THIS season ... new Head Coaches throughout Southern/SouthEast Ohio !!! ... we have teams who again "on paper" are in an unfamiliar "rebuilding" season ... others have the players "on paper" but have to "live up" to expectations whether they be self-imposed or placed on them by their fans ... finally! throw in the new alignment of divisions D1 thru D7 on the hardwood !!! What will that do to teams goals of making runs into the post season??? ... I've had my Preseason Elite 8 rankings penciled in on the "big board" since late May/early June ... I am now going back over the rankings , making adjustments based on transfer portal players, players who ARE NOT playing this coming winter (some leaving high school - entering college early, etc.), others focusing on another sport, players who ARE returning to the hardwood after taking time off, we have foreign exchange players entering the mix to make a difference in the landscape of hs hoops in SEO ...

Sunday Nov 3rd, 8p ... drop in and see where all 72 teams in the SE District will be starting the season, working to make an impression on the Committee of One to make their way up the rankings throughout the regular season ...

I always look forward to this time of the year!
IMO, there are a number of teams in our area that could be dangerously good this year.
As I have almost daily interaction with kids of this age range, it does amaze me at the amount of dialogue I hear about players/friends that are still undecided about playing... and I mean "key" players. Not just here at home, but other teams of SEO.
I hope they all take the chance to play while they are still in HS, and enjoy the opportunity.

Cheers to bball season!
