2024 Football Transfers

Burg supposed to be a lot better in 2024 and they made it further than Ironton last year. Burg at home is the favorite.

Ironton has the better talent (according to Ironton fans), Ironton has the harder working coaches (per Ironton fans), Ironton has the bigger senior class, and Ironton has far more D1 scholarship players. Yet you claim Burg is the favorite?

I guess you must think very little of Pendleton and his staff with regards to their planning and preparation to consider Ironton the underdog. Do you really think that little of Pendleton’s coaching abilities?

Burg has all of the above. But Ironton recruits with the best of them. The Jimmy’s and Joe’s matter.

Ironton definitely favored week 1. I don’t care where it’s played. Can Burg win this game…..yes. Ironton is stacked and Burg gonna have to play almost perfect BUT it’s not out of the question. The last few years I’ve expected a blowout for Ironton after reading all the “hype” on this site. Only to go and watch a tight defensive battle with both offenses struggling, a lot of stupid penalties, and hard hitting defenses. Actually pretty good games

Maybe I’m missing something but why all hate on this Burg team? I’ve seen 5-5 or 6-4 which is a down year in that town.

Are they that down or is it just because of schedule and past losses to teams on their schedule??

And NO…..I don’t give a poop about past records, regional championships, transfers, or even State Championships??? Just trying to talk 2024 season.

You are correct. Being the first game, it tends to be a defensive battle with both offenses making too many mistakes. Burg’s O should be better than last year (although not a high bar), but the D has some holes to fill. Will find out how quickly the youngsters get up to speed.

As for 5-5 and 6-4 predictions, that’s just trash talk from a few Ironton folks.

Ok I was just wondering. I feel like with the exception of PREP, most of Burg losses last few years have been close games. Especially to Ironton and Jackson. Really good close games especially vs Jackson. Winters and Wolford really gave Burg fits last few years. Both made big plays when Jackson needed them. Great rivalry and always good hard hitting game

If Burg is not a run oriented team this year and they try to continue to run the spread offense it could be a long season. They will have two pretty good backs in Brown and Emnett. OL should be good. They will need to control the ball for long periods of time to keep the other teams offense off the field.

Question: why are the coaches so committed to the spread? It has never worked well against teams with speed, not just recently but for a long time.
