Holden was D5 offensive player of the year when Burg won state, and you are claiming Ironton will have the top 4-5 offensive players in D5? Wow.

So your prediction is that Ironton’s state title is a foregone conclusion and playing out the games is just a formality?
Shaun "Homegrown" Terry is simply a much higher rated recruit and talent than Holden. 🤷‍♂️
He’s just one. You said 4-5 are better than Holden.

Since you are claiming Ironton has 4-5 potential D5 player of the year award winners, I assume the state title is a done deal?

Or do you not trust that Pendleton can bring home the title despite having the 4-5 best offensive players in D5?
Kayden "Homegrown" Edwards also, ALREADY a much higher rated prospect than Holden was at burg.

Terry not home grown, but it’s hard to compare two different types of players. Holden was great. Terry is too. But they are two different types of recruits. Terry more shifty, Holden was more downhill and a lot stronger.
Holden was not a rated recruit at WR
Shaun "Homegrown" Terry is. .
That simple.

Let me see if I got this right:
- Burg players not homegrown unless they can trace their ancestors’ residency in Burg back to the town’s founding.

- Ironton players are homegrown as long as they transfer in right before graduation.

I believe that sums up Ironton’s view on this.

So that’s two better than Holden. Who are the other 2-3?

Also, I notice you are not willing to put the state title expectation on this team. Not a lot of confidence given all of these kids that are better than state winner Holden. Or do you just not trust the young, workaholic coaching staff?

D5 should be a walk in the park for this Ironton team given their 4-5 top offensive players, along with the hard working coaches!

Sounds like Terry is not so “homegrown”.

Although, in Ironton’s defense, any kid that arrives there before high school is about as homegrown as it gets for them.

Ratings for kids at Ironton is laughable. All fine small southern Ohio HS players, but let’s be honest with ourselves. How has it worked out for Carrico, Perkins, Carter, Washington, Keys thus far? 2 of them transferred after 1 year, and the other 2 I’m not sure are even playing football anymore. Carrico also transferred. I hope it works out for all of them, but so far the ratings these kids have received haven’t meant crap.

No hate or jealousy here big boy. Just stating facts, ones you didn’t care to try and dispute because you can’t. Nothing wrong with these kids not making it at the D1 level, still good players. Get the education and a great job thanks to the ratings you have. But I’m not wrong when I said those ratings haven’t produced.

No, I stated facts moron. I even gave you proof by listing the transfers & kids who don’t even play anymore. The ratings at Ironton are meaningless until those kids produce on the field. Maybe Terry will, so far none have. Waiting for you to tell me one of the so called highly rated recruits that have produced? Like I said it’s not a knock on these kids. You definitely take the opportunity that’s given to you, have fun, get your education. My problem is with idiots like you who come on here and toot the horn about ratings and these big time Ironton recruits. I’m still looking for the results…..I’m not a Burg guy so I don’t give a hoot who they can beat, at the end of season Burg & Ironton are walking home with the same amount of state titles that the rest of SEO are.

Well darn good thing I didn’t mention all American baby boy. Don’t have to be AA to play or produce. But I guess Ironton hasn’t had any of those highly rated recruits do so, so you all wouldn’t know that.

Has nothing to do as to whether daddy is a millionaire.Or a daddy grew up in the projects. Or doesn't have anything to do with politics. Has everything to do with Southeastern ohio just aren't as Talented as kids from the other parts of the state or the country. The competition is just not as good either. That's why most recently Ironton and over the years several other teams that have made it to canton have generally gotten a severe ass kicking. Ironton has gone up there with very good talent but when you add up getting badly beaten up front on both sides of the line and add to that the always present turnovers and dumb personal fouls that equals a blowout..

I wouldn't say Southern Ohio kids aren't as good because that's a false statement. Look at Joe Burrow he was at Ohio State and they wouldn't play him so he went to LSU and a real Conference which is the SEC and absolutely dominated everybody and won a national championship.

Completely disagree that talent is the problem.

Let’s take Kirtland. Just on talent, they are below Ironton and Wheelersburg. Kirtland most certainly does not have a talent advantage.

So how do they succeed? They are extremely well coached and very disciplined. They just do the fundamentals very well. Keep in mind, Kirtland never made the playoffs before their coach arrived!

Another example? Hilliard Davidson. Brian White made that team a D1 power winning multiple state titles along with numerous regional championships. How did he do it? Straight out of Ed Miller’s playbook: great fundamentals (blocking and tackling), strong running game, avoid making mistakes. Davidson never had the athletes that other D1 programs have, but they still competed at the highest levels.
And once Brian retired? Davidson moved away from what Brian had implemented resulting in a rapid decline in results.

Ironton has the talent to dominate DV football. What they lack are the strong fundamentals and discipline in their play/execution. They rely too much on talent which doesn’t always work when you play teams like Kirtland.

Look at Kirtlands JR High, Freshman and JV schedules, that’s the other reason they are so successful for being a small school, they play the big boys before they get to the Varsity level.

You can look at their FB schedules on the link below. Didn’t notice anything special about their Jr high and JV schedules other than Perry.
