I woulda thought all of burgs "superior coaching & culture" woulda had em top 3. 🤷‍♂️
All the teams listed in Top 5 are very capable of winning Div 5 for sure. Very good teams and deserve to be ranked. I personally favor Versailles(could be wrong and I’m ok with that) I’m just a MAC fan in general.

How the heck did Wheelersburg get involved in this post? Haven’t seen anyone say Wheelersburg should be ranked in top 5 nor was Wheelersburg even mentioned in original post??
Burg has talent but are young.
No excuse.

Rankings different in the article below. IHS is #1.

Rankings for the other divisions can be found online.

Last year, all playoff games regardless of division were on Friday. I’m not sure about this year as the 2024 playoff information has yet to be released per the OHSAA website.

And if I were betting on it, I would bet that they won't get past. The number two ranked preseason team in d5.

I’m done with the back and forth with this person. As many have said on this site, it’s way past being old; I agree. Should have taken TigerBob’s advice long ago.

That said, with regards to the top 10, Burg definitely shouldn’t be on the list. They are too young with too many questions that need to be answered. Have talent but need to see it on the field.

Valley View and Perry were moved to D4. Also noticed Coldwater missing from the list. Did they move down?

Yes Coldwater dropped into D6 R24 with the likes of West, Valley and Paint Valley

Yeah West hit the lottery with the move being this season. They return a huge line and they've got a couple of RBs that are going to tote the rock this season, they had to be jumping for joy to get away from Burg, HP and Ironton. I do believe they enter a region that has like 3 MAC schools in it so that'll be interesting and also Versailles was a beast last year losing in the state championship game to Kirtland.

Versailles jumped to D5. Coldwater down to D6.

Frankly, D5 might be easier than D6 with regards to winning state.

As I said to another poster, D6 may be better for getting out of the region, but with Kirtland and Coldwater, there is zero chance of any SEO team winning it; even Burg, IHS, and HP.

Not sure if ML is in D6 or D7 this year. If them and Kirtland are in the same division, there’s your championship game.

D5 will almost for sure have the worst of the 7 state champions. D6 will be a war, D7 is pretty bad except for Marion Local, who would win everything up to maybe D3, Perry is up a division.

For me, the teams I think that can contend are South Range, Versailles, Harvest Prep, and Ironton. Liberty Center has been trending as a program but apparently lost a ton of seniors. South Range may have 3-4 titles by now if not for Kirtland’s D5 reign. Typically lost in the regional finals. Harvest Prep will be a tough out and who knows what team will be there come Week 1. Versailles will play a schedule that will prepare them for every team in the field. Ironton will too, but I don’t think they’ll face state champion quality teams as often as Versailles will.

Harvest Prep is always able to reload with a lot more kids than the other schools. When you have a CB number of 66, kids must be being brought in from all over. Hard to compete with that.

Spot on with the analysis.

I think HP and IHS could get past Versailles this year. SR will be the really tough out.
