Kids in the school who decided to come out. One is Caleb Tullius, that’s the only name I know. Seems to be a good athlete who they finally got to play.

Teams that will be in attendance at the 7x7 on Friday:
Warren
Parkersburg South
Ravenswood
Roane County
Rock Hill
Waterford
Federal Hocking
Logan
Caldwell
Beallsville
Good mix of bigger schools and smaller schools. Should allow everyone to see the kind of teams they’ll be playing in the regular season.

Will be interesting to hear how Warren matches up particularly with South. Both programs have some really good athletes.beg003 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 8:10 pm Teams that will be in attendance at the 7x7 on Friday:

Re: Warren Football 2024
So far, Warren has beaten Rock Hill, Logan, and Parkersburg South, plus tied with Roane County, WV.
Re: Warren Football 2024
Warren wins their 7x7, beating Parkersburg South 35-10 in the final. Good start to the summer. Next up is a bigger fish to fry in the Raceland 7x7.

Re: Warren Football 2024
The only thing that will kill Warren this year is depth. They seem to have a good solid group of ones, but they lack depth a some key positions. Having a JV program now will help them in the future but they are really lacking depth this year. That’s not a good ingredient for an extended playoff run in D3.
Re: Warren Football 2024
I wasn’t able to be there but I talked to people who were. Pepper is Pepper, Cressey looks much improved at receiver, Tullius had 2-3 TDs. The freshman, Murray, had a nice day as well at DB. Carr had 2 picks I believe. They were able to play 8-9 DBs alone, plus were still able to play 6-7 guys at LB, even with a couple guys out. So depth, at least at the 7x7 positions, isn’t much of an issue. To, me depth would be more of an issue up front, just like it is for everyone else.
Re: Warren Football 2024
What positions? Honest question, just looking for specifics. I would argue we have more depth at more positions this year because of the freshman class. We brought in more than we graduated. Up front, it could get thin, but that’s an issue for most teams.Notsofastmyfriend wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2024 6:39 am The only thing that will kill Warren this year is depth. If winning in the playoffs is your goal then saying you have freshmen as a depth measure at the D3 level of Ohio high school football is good then you and I will never agree to anything. Let’s just say your QB goes down with a sprained ankle, or Pepper pulls a hamstring? It is football. Who’s the back ups that’s leading your team? I guess I should’ve clarified that experience is important, not just having bodies.
Re: Warren Football 2024
Tullius helps the receiver situation and Cressey coming on helps. The tight end who came out had a good day as well. Plus they’re a run-first team. They’re not afraid to run it 35 times. So that alleviates pressure there. If Sealey goes out, then yeah we’re hurting. But how many high school teams have a backup QB good enough to where there’s no drop off in play? Pepper is the same. To expect us to have guys just like them waiting in the wings isn’t realistic. If they existed, they’d be playing. That’s just a bridge you cross when you get there. My concern is depth up front.Notsofastmyfriend wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2024 8:13 ambeg003 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2024 6:53 amWhat positions? Honest question, just looking for specifics. Re: Warren Football 2024
I know it's 7on7, but that's a good sign for Warren. I talked with Coach Tanner at South the other day and he felt like they had some really solid skill kids. Looking like Warren will be as explosive at the skill positions as they have been in a while.
Re: Warren Football 2024
This is the most skill they’ve had since probably 2019. Pepper is the best receiver in our area, in my opinion. That’s always a good starting point. Plus, Cressey should be a 400-500 yard receiver. Tullius is a first year kid, but he can really run and will get really favorable matchups because Pepper will be a main focus of everyone else’s gameplan, and for good reason. And this doesn’t account for them being a run-first team. They’re set up to have a pretty good season, it’s just a matter of them not beating themselves.MOVGridiron wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 9:34 amI know it's 7on7, but that's a good sign for Warren. Re: Warren Football 2024
With the schedule being favorable, I look forward to seeing Warren playing this fall.
Warren had handcuffed themselves in the past with their schedule being to tough in my opinion.
Winning games is by far the most important thing for the program at this point. Weather if it traslates into winning playoff games or not, they need to build a winning culture. By just winning, the #’s will grow within the program, that’s just how it works. Also the vast majority of fans are not smart enough to realize if you’re beating good or bad teams. The community wants to come out Friday night and watch the warriors compete. So personally I love that the schedule is manageable.
With that being said,
Winning games they aren’t heavy favorites in has been the biggest hurdle for the program consistently for almost 25 years now. I think with
Coach Peyton’s philosophy the ground and pound is definitely the recipe for success in my opinion.
Depth is certainly a concern for any program but depth should be better this year than it was last.
If Warren can win the LOS, they have a great chance of winning all their regular season games with their QB’s ability to create and their stable of RB’s they will be a problem. They also have the best WR probably in the SE district in Pepper.
Sealy proved he was more than capable of keeping the opposition honest with his ability to throw the football if he can do that again I don’t see a team on the schedule that can’t be beat.
Just my non professional opinion, Go Blue

Re: Warren Football 2024
Totally agree with what’s been said above. At Raceland’s 7x7 tonight, Warren goes 4-0.
Scores were:
Beat Fleming 2-1, beat Raceland 4-2, beat Wheelersburg 2-1 and beat Chesapeake 3-2 playing backups.
It’s pretend football, but competing with high-level programs like Burg and Raceland, no matter the context, is a net positive.

It shows Warren has some talented skill players but real football is won in the trenches. Who won the big man challenges? That’s how we’re know how good the Warriors really will be.

Re: Warren Football 2024
This is a fact, Warren has never been the team to absolutely destroy a team up front. They also haven’t been a program that teaches the fundamentals up front very well. With their philosophy I believe that should be their #1 concern. If I was a betting man, I’d say the O-line is getting the best coaching they’ve had upfront since Daniel Day was the HC.Notsofastmyfriend wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 8:10 am It shows Warren has some talented skill players but real football is won in the trenches. Re: Warren Football 2024
To the offensive line point, if the Steele kid can come on and be a contributor up front, that truly could open up the whole playbook. He’s their most athletic lineman and has the size, it’s just a matter of him adjusting to football again, which could take several weeks. Peyton has a background in OLine and he’s coaching that group personally this year. I look for them to be better than they’ve been the last several years. They’ll likely have an above average run game between Sealey, Carr, and Fairbanks and a definite above average passing game with Pepper and Cressey with some other guys mixed in by committee (i.e., Thompson, Strahler, Tullius).

Re: Warren Football 2024
Has anyone been out to see the first week of 2-a-days? Interested to see how many kids are out this year. I can't remember a season where expectations have been this high for a good while. Can't wait to see the pigskin fly.
